Sometimes life can be a real rollercoaster. Yesterday I had a job interview and got a new job at one of the worlds best universities of the world (at their Institute for Air and Space travel). That so far was the best day in my life.

Today I am lying in a hospital because my right lung collapsed. The following surgery was one of my worst experiences in my life, at least in regards to physical pain.

Still I consider myself as being lucky. If it would have happened just 2 days earlier I would not have gotten the chance to go to that job interview which did get me an absolute dream job.

Thank you, after all it's not as bad as it sounds. I was joking around with the nurses and the surgeons the whole time, when they prepped me for surgery ans during the surgery as I was not knocked out.

If you take away the physical pain... I had less entertaining evenings in my life before 😁.

Thanks, I 'll habe a Laptop here soon, that will already help a lot to make my stay in the hospital more comfortable. At least that means I have a full week or longer for a hardcore EvE session.

Right now as I am typing this I have to laugh as this is almost literally like the south park WoW episode.

Wow. Get well soon so you can get to doing that great job, bud!

(Challenge, should you choose to accept: If you were under anesthesia, try to find out if you did or said anything interesting that you don't know about. I was under anesthesia not too long ago, and when I woke up, all of the nurses were smiling at me, like I was their lifelong friend. Like we'd gotten to know each other really well or something. Well, I'll never know how, why or what).

Next week will decide if I will need another larger surgery, if it's needed I will get knocked out completely ans will gladly accept your challenge.

It's the 3rd time I am here in the hospital, because of this and habe a quite friendly relationship with everyone here. I am sure they will tell me if I so anything funny.

When this week the surgeons first came in to have a look at me, one of them had to start laughing as he entered the room. He performed the surgery on me the last time around, but he remembers me instantly for another reason.

Last time I was always just sitting on my bed with my smartphone, completely relaxed, acting as if I was on a holiday trip rather than being in a hospital with a ****** up lung.

To cite him: I have never seen anyone who seems to be so comfortable with being in a hospital.

That was around 6 years ago, but he instantly remembered when he came into the room 2 days ago 😁.

Collapsed lung is no joke. My brother had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease that was caused by Alpha-1 antitrypsin genetic deficiency. He was two times in hospital, one time his lung colapsed and doctors set him free week after but then his lung collapsed second time two weeks after.

It's my 3rd time in hospital because of it. First time around they just observed me for 2 weeks. Luckily it took a few years until it happened again.

2nd time around my left lung shrank down to the size of my fist (even me who has nothing to do with medical care, could see what's wrong on the x-rays that time around). That time around I did not get around surgery. A part of my left lung was removed back then and they did some additional stuff to make sure the left wing won't fully collapse anymore.

This time around it's the right side again and next week they will determine whether I need that same surgery I had last time or not.

I had chronic bronchitis since I was a baby and almost died from it back then as well (when I was saved it was just a matter of minutes before I would have been a goner). So it's not really shocking for me when these things happen. I know I could pretty much die any time, but there is no point in being worried about it.

All I can do is to enjoy every moment I get 😁.

True, but that is an absolute last resort option which usually is just taken, when there is absolutely no other option left.

Luckily I did not reach that point yet, but then again I am not that old yet as well, so it´s not impossible that this will happen at some point in my life. Right now I am happy if I just don´t get bothered with it for another 5+ years once I am out of here :). Whatever comes next is something I can worry about when the time comes :).

So.. that surgery went well... nothing really strange or funny happened...

Some time has already passed since then. I had to spend another week in the hospital, but was at home again last week. I still had quite some pain and it still is not completely gone, but I fell quite OK. Well I did feel quite OK until an hour ago... At that point my stupid PC decided that it is time for it to finally die.... great timing.... with the hospital bill coming and not heaving a job until I start my new job later this year there is no spare money for a new one..........

Really great start into the new year... stupid lung collapsing, a part of it being removed, spending my birthday all alone in a damn hospital and not a single "friend" bothering to call or visit me and now that **** just had to happen. But hey I guess that is just typical for my life... years of depressions, all my friends turning their back on me, still not giving up and doing everything to make my life worth living... Finally things start to look better and just one day after finally getting some good news I get hit by that ****** life again.

And nobody I know in RL even cares, so like the pathetic loser that I feel like right now.. all I can do is vent on the forums of some stupid game......

RL friends are still friends. If you're young and they're young, it could just be that they just don't know how to do it. Hospital visits, I mean. I was lucky in my day because we had a gang of friend girls who were our friends, and they thought about things like that. My regular crew of mates would have thought about me, but not one of them would have got his head or arse together enough to go for a hospital visit. Just because nobody came over doesn't mean they aren't holding space for you. Smile

(On the other hand-- Hospital bed time might be the most concentrated private time you ever have. Astrophysics, chaordic airflow patterns over airfoil aircraft wings, next-generation engineering EM-impervious miniaturized drone avionics etc.? I had a four-day spell in a hospital when young, and it's still roots for some thinking).

Think about it in different light. That computer might have been you. Shocked
Yet, you live and you will start job, and you will have money, and your lung will be ok now after surgery.

Future looks brighter. Big smile
Dont allow some minor inconvencies to ruin it. Remember Black Knight from Monthy Python? Nothing could have bringed him down. Cool

Yes life has its ups and downs. Good to still see you posting though.

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.
