Lots of clothes & accs exist, but aren't released. Have CCP said why?

I've never looked much in the NES until the sale for the "Sleeve" items happened, but now that I am, I see that there's a ton of stuff "in the database" but not actually available for purchase anywhere. By that I mean that you can browse the stuff in the market, but there's no listings for selling any of it and there's none of it in the NES (stuff like different colors of clothes). Other items have stuff on the market, but aren't in the NES (stuff like the "Drone" and "Nature" "Sleeve" items).

I'm guessing that the released stuff on the market but not the NES were special rewards for something at some point, but is there anything said about why there aren't the other colors of clothes and other accessories (like some of those arms)?

I've tried to use Google to find information about this, but all I can find are some pretty negative things about some glasses that were released years ago. Are all these unavailable items from that?

Some of its old stuff no longer in the store. Store has nothing in it right now just junk.
They need to release way more than some recolored pants if they want me to drop isk on it in the market.

You just have to buy it or find a collector willing to contract you one if you can afford it.

I'm surprised there aren't half a dozen comments about how "EVE is not Spaceship Barbie" yet...

Anyway, as far as the Apparel goes, most of it is indeed unreleased, but CCP have never specifically stated as to why. I've messed around with a fair amount of it on SISI (where all of it is seeded for 100 ISK each), but I haven't seen anything bad about it that would make it not viable as a potential release on TQ. This includes a lot of the Prosthetics that are listed in the market.

Some of the arms and the Sleeve tattoos were limited-edition from the Anniversary Box a few years back, but those came well after Monoclegate happened (the "glasses" incident you found). Two of the sleeves, however, were later released on the NES (Prototype and Wreck were released in the NES, but for unknown reasons Nature and Drone remain unavailable outside the Anniversary Box or high prices on the market).

I'm curious, myself, as to why CCP have opted not to release more of the items, as some of them are significantly better-looking that what has been released, if only because it offers a bit of color to brighten up the drab dirt, steel, and concrete motif that pervades the game. It's a bit sad to see some good-looking tops go unreleased for multiple years.

This isn't a new thing, lots of games with cosmetic micro-transactions do staggered releases like this. The idea is to get players to buy something, then release another item that takes up the same slot, and that some may like more than the first item. That way, a lot of people end up making more purchases than they'd do if all the items were available from the start.

My cousin Ishtanchuk has been waiting the release of a certain dress since seeing it at Singularity in April 2011 -meaning it was intended to be in the first batch of Incarna items. It was not released with Incarna, nor anytime since. No reasons.

Some things escape human reason, sense and understanding and can just be explained as:

I would like the faction berets to be released. They could be used by faction warfare warriors and loyalist captains around New Eden. I think there are many of them, who would want to wear something like that, together with fitting shirt and pants. And add salut gesture to avatar editor.

Spaceship Barbie would like to sell you a unit of trit for several hundred million. Exactly how many hundred million depends on the day.

A lot of it isn't on the NES, but has been kept in reserve as prizes for events in the past.
