Scaling ship graphics to match gun graphics

When I zoom in to look at an installed gun/launcher on any ship, it always looks crisp and well-displayed. The ship itself, however, looks blurry, and low-quality compared to the gun/launchers. I have the highest possible graphics settings (finally), and my GTX980 is running cool at 60fps unclocked, so my graphics are not an issue. If the guns/launchers are rendered high, and scaled down to create the crisp defined look they have currently when installed, can the ships themselves also be scaled up, rendered, and then scaled back down to repeat the same fine quality effect and appearance? It sounds like this could actually work, but then again, I'm but a commoner in this wonderful world we inhabit called EVE.

Thank you CCP for everything you do

can we also go back to the guns having their own colors . so that some one who spends the time to look can tell T2/T1/faction/officer

Two reasons this isn't the case, that I can think of.

First off, the texture for every gun in a fight isn't actually displayed, guns don't show up until you hit "look at" on a ship, but every ship texture in the fight is displayed. This means they can use the same size of texture on your teeny tiny guns that they use on your ship and it's just the graphical equivalent of adding 8 more ships of the same type to the fight (assuming you play zoomed in enough that your guns even render).

The other is that there may simply be a texture size limit and to actually get really really crisp textures on a Battleship (or a Titan) would either require crappy Frigates or breaking some cards ability to render the ships (or a split in the code/graphics base for different textures/rendering).

I know there's been some discussion of an HD client, but I recall there being some issues with that. Can't recall what exactly though, probably either one of the above or issues with the amount of work required to pull it off and available art pipeline bandwidth.

the file was something like 140G even if it was an opt in for players to chose to DL it they decided it just wasnt worth it (however the 4k textures do exist)

Ah, I see, it's a far greater issue entirely. Thanks for your comments guys :)

From what I recall, CCP indicated that there wasn't that much of a noticeable difference between the 4k textures for the additional performance hit.

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.
