An offer rolled out to get a sub for 7 bucks but it's only on the main site and I can not use a credit card so... is there any other way to get a sub from the main site? Is paypal simpler, harder? Or do I keep doing the old fashioned thing and get enough isk to get a plex?

Still new to eve and even newer to the website

Update: Turns out if I get a debit card I get charged 6 bucks a month... not worth it... getting an extra HDD instead, I don't shop online enough to get one.

Thanks for all you guys's (and Gals) help, use this thread as you may now

Well, there are pre-paid credit cards available, though not all of them are guaranteed to be accepted. Also credit-card companies often offer gift cards which are very similar. Both are often available at your favorite banking institution.

You could always petition for billing support and ask for help. They might even help you get the deal. Doesn't hurt to ask.

I believe paypal is an accepted payment should be just as easy as a credit card.

Is this deal only for new accounts?

I'd buy 6 months right now if it's for re-subscription.

Do you have a link?

Ah, found it.

It appears to be for new accounts only.

https://secure.eveonline.com/buy/

6 Months
$8.33/mo

Unlimited skill training

No ship restriction

Bonus items:

Venture mining Frigate

Exploration Frigate 4-Pack

Cybernetic avatar arms

~~~
as compared to existing accounts who have to pay more, for less, sort of like a reverse loyalty scheme...
6 MONTHS
$11.95/mo
$71.70 total
It's for current Alpha accounts which I think includes lapsed old accounts. Alpha brought me back and it let me buy 3 months for $30 as one of those options on my original 2007 account which was operating as Alpha at the time.
I then started this one to mess around on and ended up paying $99 for a year which is like $8.25/month (I don't know why their math works out to 8 cents more). You can get that price for either 6 or 12 months paid up front right now.
It's not renewable at that price, so AFAIK you only get to choose one of these offers so if you buy three months now you can't later buy another six at the cheap price. Of course if you let the account lapse back to Alpha then maybe they'll have another offer you can re-up on.
I suspect these or similar offers will remain in force as long as the new Alpha player influx remains a thing.
I sent a support ticket in, mainly because I didn't expect an answer here. GM Sirius was kind enough to reply...
Hello there, GM Sirius here.
I am sorry you will not be re-subscribing. The discount in question is an offer we have for new accounts or accounts that have never been Omega and want to upgrade for this time.
This is a marketing decision and as such, there's nothing we, as Costumer Support, can do about the matter.
If there is anything else I may assist you with, please let me know.
Best Regards,
GM Sirius
I can imagine the reasoning that marketing uses, it just doesn't work for me.
I don't know why you wouldn't use a credit card. Put it on your credit card, pay the card in full every month and get some rewards points through the card on top of it.
The method of payment is immaterial, debit cards work fine for me. I don't do debt.
What does matter to me is that EVE has two different payment systems for players.
It matters to me because the logic of players making content doesn't work with that tiering of players.
CCP, or at least their marketing department, is saying, "Thanks for playing longer and creating more content, you can pay us more for doing that."
Someone in CCP marketing is hoping that long term players are all fools for the sunk cost fallacy.
Doesn't it strike you that way?
It's a philosophical disagreement, the money and the method of payment don't matter.
So I'll go play something else.
I would never use anything but paypal after all the years I have used it. Will never go back now. I hope that is a glowing enough recommendation
All businesses do this to bring in new customers. It's called marketing if that offended you you should probably not buy anything from anyone. You will not be missed
The method of payment is not immaterial. Credit cards give you reward points, debit cards don't. I got $1,300 in free travel last year through credit card rewards points by using them correctly. Debit cards don't do that for you.
If you pay your credit card off in full every month, you don't take on debt. I've never paid a dime in interest charges and get over $1,000/year in free airfair by using credit cards.
Are you fundamentally against getting free money?
Sorry, deal with it.
You took advantage of an Introductory offer when you started, well done, you are introduced, now you don't qualify and you pay the same as everyone else why play the game.
it's a bit like asking to be introduced to your mother daily/weekly/monthly etc because someone else met her and got offered a cup of coffee and you didn't get one ?
Way to make an issue out of something that wasn't one... Pay in whatever manner pleases you the most. He can pay in whatever manner pleases him the most. At the end of the day it doesn't really matter how you pay so long as you are happy with the good/service you received for the money you paid right?
Well... i guess they have as marketing specialists the same students like almost every Mobile Telephony provider here. Maybe they use the same recruiting agency? Shocked
I mean here (Russia) every Mobile Telephony provider cares only about new customers. They make special tariffs and offers for newcomers. But long time 'money givers' receive nothing.
