just wanted to say this before i leave once again. first off EVE is the best pvp experience available in mmorpgs today. i was exited to learn EVE was now free to play ,but sad to learn skills were behind a pay wall. my plan was to get my skills up then buy plex to get the ship i wanted to play . making players pay 20 dollars a month just to watch skills tick is unreasonable .it also is keeping alote of players with a plan like mine away .

restrict the ships in free to play but not the skill tree this only robs the game of revenue and future players.

Wasn't unreasonable for the last decade, why all of a sudden is it now so?
If as you say this is the best PvP to be had In the MMO scene then assuredly the ask for the full experience isn't all that great.

sure it is but for how long? but that is not my point. player population would be much higher if skills were not behind a pay wall. here is a little fact for you when eve first launched you could unsub and your skill tree would still keep growing. how is that for the full experience.

If you are paying 20 Buck/month you are doing it wrong. Either pay 12$ subscription or use ISK to buy plex. Buying plex for playing Omega is stupid.

Yeah, let's just give everyone access to everything in EvE for free... That sounds like a great way to run a business!

considering plenty of ppl are successful in pvp with alpha toons there is plenty more to do than "watch skills tick up"

Free EVE is basically a trial version. You gotta pay for the real thing.

All the high quality MMORPGs are subscription based for a reason. When your game is subscription based, you get reliable revenue stream to improve the game and you don't have to keep inventing things for whales to buy on your store or have to introduce so much pay-to-win just to stay alive.

It sounds like you basically just want to bypass the skill system (ie you'd prefer EVE-style PVP with a level playing field). Unfortunately, that's not really what this game is. If that's the case, I do understand the frustration because there aren't any other games with combat like EVE. But let's not change the game into something it's not. The game is meant to be actively played while you skill up.
As much fun as it would be to see all the noobs who return after two years and get their shiny new carriers blown up, I don't think it would be healthy for EVE.

The aspect of the game that you're complaining about isn't broken; your sense of entitlement on the other hand...

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Not everything in life is for everyone, just like video games, as you can see this game isnt for you.
Theres many other games out there that perhaps might suit your kind, eve is just not for you, once you accept that everything will make sense.

If skills were not behind a paywall... it would completely break the character sale market and probably skill injectors too.

Train 3 characters to high levels of skill... get a plex... drain skills all at once and sell injectors. Go back to alpha for a while.

Now do that with 100 alpha accounts.

Only baddies pay to play this game. If you know how to get isk risk-free ingame, you're sitting on a pile of PLEX (as many oldtimers are)

Excellent business plan: dumb gullible gamers lured by the appeal of a single server where they can become a real icon or so they think, get scammed and scammed, buy PLEX after PLEX to offset the losses.

There's really no wonder why CCP coddles griefers: they make sure the whales keep buying.

"You would not be the first "ganker aligned" player to be found to having some issues. Here's a dark secret: there are some in AG who, because of battling gankers, have managed to get to know a few of them, found they had issues, and helped them" HW

I have "piles of PLEX" ?

This is news to me. I can barely afford my PvP gear!

Underlined the misconception.

At no point does the game say that you will become an "icon." That is simply false expectations on the part of the player (which is, unfortunately, fed and reinforced by other games out there).

You are one of thousands of other players.
You are not special. No more or less than the guy scamming or shooting you.
You are no hero. Likewise, you are no villain. You have to perform actions and force others to see you as such. Just like everyone else.
You have no special mechanics protecting you.
The game will not guarantee your safety... only you can push it in that direction using the same tools as everyone else has access to.
You have no right to anything in the game any more or less than the other guy flying in space next to you.

You are not entitled to be "left alone." The game is predicated on conflict. It is what makes industry function... your successes meaningful... your reputation what it is... cooperation with others necessary... etc.

There is no way to truly "win."
Even if you do "win," you can have that success snatched away from you by others.

EVE is a "rat race."
It is an eternal game of "king of the hill."
To paraphrase a DEV; "Success is coveted by many, but achieved by few. And that is okay!"

That is why many of us here stick with the game.

Yes, completely and totally unreasonable. Good thing it's not true :)

Seriously, if you can't find anything to do in this game, even as an alpha, or a new Omega with just Alpha skills to start with, then you're not trying very hard.

Nope. Other mmorpgs do full loot pvp better. Other pvpmmorpgs require much more player skill than EVEs 1-3 button pvp combat. Winning fights in EVE is all about numbers and what ship you undocked in rather than player skill. Its a joke of a pvp game that real pvp gamers can't take seriously.
