edit:

a new girl is moving in our shared flat, shes from korea (seoul) and studying car engineering

her german skills are very poor and her english is even worse, so communication might be a bit weird at the beginning

what is typical for koreans ? how do they behave ? whats fun about them ? whats really weird, what should i avoid to not step on her toes ?

Depends, her english could be so bad that you can't understand her. That and you will only ever have noodles and kimchi in your cupboards. Ever.

Also: Starcraft. Learn it well, and soon.

First thing is you shouldn't confuse Korean culture with Japanese culture. Japanese culture is "polite," in that you don't say what you really think. Keeping the peace is primary. Very pleasant, but can be a little aloof and distant ultimately.

Korean culture is about the opposite. Rough and tough, they come right at you and say what they think. Sometimes too abrupt, so it seems rude. They don't mean anything by it, they talk that way to each other too. But can hack off a Western person at first. But after you get to know each other, Koreans are open and generous and really down to Earth. A lot of them are devote Christians, so they at least try to be honest and treat people right. Here's a Korean thing: If you go to a restaurant in Korea, you'll likely see a couple of businessmen fighting at the cash register. Growling at each other and pushing and shoving. WTH? Turns out they're fighting over the bill-- winner pays, loser doesn't get to pay. : )

Koreans are a very curious lot of people, my experiences with them have been of straightforwardness with a touch of ritualistic behavior as odd as it might sound.

Also avoid Nkorea topic, it's like asking for your aborted fetus, the one you had to abort because you were young and were not prepared to deal with.

Hmm I need more Korean friends , not many here in Panama.

Also Kimchi ... lots of it. Big smile

Real asian food in general is VERY different.

I went to a restaurant in china one time, got some sort of gelatin with meat in it.

BTW, no it was not a pleasant experience. nasty ****.

Oh, you were being serious?

My appologies for insinuating that she would uncontrolably laugh at an imaginary broadway musical collection that your clearly do not own because you are butch and manly.

My experience with Germans and Koreans suggests that domestic arguments will be minimal, as she will be neat and tidy with a routine that allows for predictability.

Koreans have a great sense of humour, also...which may be the only area that you clash in.

Take her out. Introduce her to Kurriwurst and Pommes mit Mayo. Go from there. Language barriers break over time. The first geman words I learned from my new friend were scheiss egal.

EDIT: OH you didn't just filter that? How lame are you guys?!

Is it for real, is it a prank? Kind of looks like an Asian TV show prank-- real girl, TV show crew "mugger."

You can have a lot of fun with Asians by e.g. saying they're from Vietnam, China, Japan, North Korea etc. when you're introducing them to someone else and they're really from South Korea (get it wrong every time, use varying countries). You have to look dead serious though.
