I just realized what I've never done...

I just realized that there are probably huge groups/alliances that swarm wormhole systems and kick out the inhabitants, or wage giant battles in wormhole space over dominance of a particular system. I heard someone talking about it in another post, and I suddenly was struck with the realization that this probably happens. It's not that I actually thought it didn't, it's just that I have never seen anything like that in wormhole space and had not really thought about it.

My new goal in EVE is to one day be a part of a large and well-organized fleet doing some form of combat in a wormhole system.

Have any of you done this? Please share your stories! Videos are extra welcome!

My pipe dream goal in Eve is to build my way up to a keepstar from a small POS tower in a C1 wormhole and fill it with capital ships for the lols.

You can find some stories when you look for "Wormhole Eviction".

Wormhole evictions - when talking about 2 entities that aren't totally unmatched - are both one of the most intense, rewarding and most tedious things I've ever done in gaming - been involved in several though have to give credit to those in the corp/alliance at that time that did the heavy lifting the effort involved is immense.

When both sides are somewhat organised and experienced the battle for hole control (the mains system links) can be extremely intense.

I remember one instance where our CEO had been up for like 2 days straight, organised multiple ops to get ships into the target system, etc. drunk waaay too much coffee and was pretty much just saying random words on voice comms - went to take a nap and then got pinged to FC a fight with around a dozen capitals on field when the target tried to retake hole control.

Even before I started playing, I wanted to enter wormholes. Was told to join Eve University because they have a Wormhole Campus you can join to learn.

Well that didn't work out but nothing is stopping you from doing it.

Within 40 minutes of creation, I was flying around (uncloaked) in a wormhole completely oblivious to the dangers around me.

And I loved it...

Living in a wormhole is like being on a cruise. You live on the ship, and pull into a different port every day to go sight-seeing. There's plenty of stuff to do on the ship, or if you want you and your friends can go explore the local countryside for things to do. If the cruise ship brings you somewhere really boring you just have to ask the captain to weigh anchor and you're off again to a different destination. Oh and sometimes the hilarious locals try to board your ship for comedy gold.

you should try ganking also, I read about Jame315 and everything he says is true. Ganking minors is the best the cry sooo much, its fun to read wat they say on minorbumbping.com .

I'm a special elite ganker, Codes finest warrior bard druid. I gank as much as possible cause I'm good. Don't mess with me minor, i'll mess with you harder. I have no honor. Dommy and Sasha are my wingmen and have my backside.

My dream is to build a life in a hole just for those dreams to be crushed by a bigger corp -- just because they can. Basically smaller guys get shitted on. Pvp = numbers or bigger, blingy ships.

Is "ganking minors" slang for something horrible ?

If you meant miners I thought that mission runners in bling fitted ships where far more "fun" to mess with not to mention that the Killmail granted from destroying their ship looks far more impressive then another Retriever getting smashed.

Now I havenĀ“t tried any ganking or other from of 'meta play' so I might be wrong on this.

How do you take pleasure in the suffering of others? We gank them to help them. It's tough love, and I feel the pain of every miner I blast to bits.

Perhaps he is referring to the trend that newer, "younger" players tend to be the ones mining, especially in untanked ships.

Some of the beauty of wormhole space is that smaller entities with skill, dumb luck or preparedness, etc. can turn the tables on numbers or so on - couple of instances:

One of our blue'd corps' home wormhole is being invaded and we go to assist picking up a sizeable number of people along the way - one of our allied corps is only too eager to bring a fleet of guardians and assures us they know what they are doing and fit per our doctrine... they don't and aren't - some are even unfit entirely. Despite having a logistic backbone that blots out the sun we are forced to retreat.

We invade a wormhole with intention to evict the inhabitants due to recent events - a few hours before the POSes come out of reinforced mode we are at their strongest timezone and our weakest and are about to lose hole control - our CEO decides to force their hand despite being outnumbered almost 3:1 - we have 1 triage carrier, about 6 mixed support and 2 dreads (and 2 more that answer pings and login mid fight) to their 2x triage, 12-14 support and around a dozen dreads. They make the mistake of splitting their dps 3 ways while we get to work on their dreads one by one - we hold the field to the loss of one dread while more than half their fleet is dead.

Heh, we killed a citadel once, and also stopped a citadel from blowing up when the neighbouring residents contacted and notified us of the situation.
Unfortunately, after about an hour of waiting, they managed to bail out just before we caught them. Turned out that they had eyes in our wormhole.

Eviction mainly depends on either a serious intent to take over a specific system, or randomly encountering a citadel that just happens to be vulnerable/about to be vulnerable.

And sometimes you fall out of your own ship.... A few weeks ago the wormhole I was collapsing er, closed prematurely leaving me in a megathron on grid with what soon grew to be 20 hostile battleships (kind of the reason I was closing it). They tried and tried to decloak me for 30 mins or so before giving up. I finally managed to scan my way out of that c4 into a c3, into the heart of Goon space, through another wormhole and into an NPC station in Curse. WTS Higgs-fit megathron in Curse, lol...

Anyway it was fun and kept me on my toes for 6 hours or so :)
