If it's illegal to shoot fish in a barrel, does that mean that it should be electrocuted with electrical currents ?

Electrocuting game fish is not only illegal, it's also morally wrong. Not quite as wrong as some of the other methods (e.g. using chlorine bleach or dynamite), but still wrong.

A friend will stab you in the face, not in the back.

From the ashes of our defeat, we will be reborn. With these chains with which we are bound, we will become indivisible. To those who showed us no mercy, we will give no sympathy. For the flames that burn our cities, we will douse in injustice's blood

Grace Hopper/Quotes
It is often easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission.

You don't manage people; you manage things. You lead people.
If it's a good idea, go ahead and do it. It's much easier to apologize than it is to get permission.
Leadership is a two-way street, loyalty up and loyalty down. Respect for one's superiors; care for one's crew.

Rear Admiral Grace Murray Hopper (9 December 1906 – 1 January 1992)

(I had my first programming course following a $10,000 scholarship in 1990 which included CoBOL.
However, I failed, due to attacks at my residence.
I took the same course 2 years later, however, it was from around May 1992, and she had recently passed away, although I only now found out that she had passed away back then.)

But Grace, then anyone will be able to write programs!

The most damaging phrase in the language is: `It's always been done that way.'
Grace Hopper

Humans are allergic to change. They love to say, 'We've always done it this way.' I try to fight that. That's why I have a clock on my wall that runs counter-clockwise.

If one ox could not do the job they did not try to grow a bigger ox, but used two oxen. When we need greater computer power, the answer is not to get a bigger computer, but . . .to build systems of computers and operate them in parallel.

If you do something once, people will call it an accident. If you do it twice, they call it a coincidence. But do it a third time and you've just proven a natural law!

From then on, when anything went wrong with a computer, we said it had bugs in it.

No computer is ever going to ask a new, reasonable question. It takes trained people to do that.

You manage things, you lead people. We went overboard on management and forgot about leadership.

One accurate measurement is worth a thousand expert opinions.

If you want my ghost just say ' We've always done it that way.' and i will haunt you for 24 hours.

I'm totally against women in combat, because we live in a culture and a society that imposes on every man the concept of women and children first...If you had a man and a woman trying to go through some dangerous woods, the man's instinct would be to protect the woman. Therefore you weaken the man.

I had a running compiler and nobody would touch it. They told me computers could only do arithmetic.

At any given moment, there is always a line representing what your boss will believe. If you step over it, you will not get your budget. Go as close to that line as you can.

We're just getting started. We're just beginning to meet what will be the future-we've got the Model T.

I've always been more interested in the future than in the past

...
We're flooding people with information. We need to feed it through a processor. A human must turn information into intelligence or knowledge.

Some day, on the corporate balance sheet, there will be an entry which reads, "Information"; for in most cases, the information is more valuable than the hardware which processes it.

The glass is neither half empty nor half full. It's simply larger than it needs to be. It is easier to get forgiveness than permission

If it isn't bolted down, bring it home.

I need something to compare this to. Could I please have a microsecond?

Humans are allergic to change.

I will not take what you need to give me. I will take what you want to give me.

"Wind and music have something in common: they are both invisible. And sometimes, by only moving your hands, in the wind, you can create sounds...sounds...you can create sounds.

We need wind to carry our angels sometimes, we need wind to dry our tears, we need wind to float our flags, we need wind to wipe our fears...our fears... and we need wind, sometimes also, to carry the music"

"My father and I never really achieved a real relationship. We probably saw each other 20 or 25 times in our lifetime. When you are able, at my age, to count the times you have seen your father, it says something... I think it's better to have conflict, or, if you have a parent who dies, you grieve, but the feeling of absence is very difficult to fill, and it took me a while to absorb that."
