Just saw a blue flash zoom by as I pulled up planet view mode to turn over PI... wth was that?? zoom out, zoom out, zoom out, WOW!

Nice work from the art and whichever else departments to put the CO in orbit!!

Not letting all the other departments off the hook for how they've trashed PI for the little guys....

Hello Zleon,

Not having done PI myself, I'm in the dark about what you actually saw. Do you perhaps have a screenshot? It sounds interesting.
I am aware of the rucus the recent changes to PI has caused though, but even at this stage of my Eve gameplay I have no interest in actually doing any PI.

It's just a holographic simulation of the customs office, and a line indicating it's orbit.
It's a nice, but simple, touch, but you can't do anything with it.

Edit: You don't need to have any colonies to do it; just view any planet. However, you do need to be in space, and in the same system, to see it.

This signature intentionally left blank for you to fill in at your leisure.

I've been wondering if the holographic display of the CO orbiting a planet will have actual gameplay functions once the planetary orbitals are added. It's a really cool aesthetic touch, but it seems like it could be groundwork for more.

My thought on this as well.

I for one think that some of the new structures that will be introduced with DUST 514 as well as the war barge will show up in the same way. Maybe even ships that are actively attacking the surface.

Uh.. you then hopefully also have a thought about how to get to that orbiting structure in a ship that makes 2km/s max?! Blink

Yes. Each moving, orbiting entity drags a bubble containing a local coordinate system around with it, and ships move relative to that local coordinate system.

Ok, then.. what happens when I land or fly into a part of space that isn't being dragged (yet).. like 50.000km away from a station, but in such a way that the orbiting station is flying through this part of space pretty soon?
