Sort the skill categories A-Z in the character sheet

Could you sort the skill categories in the character sheet A-Z? As of now, especially when it is just the icons, you literally have to go through every one to find what you are looking for, or try to figure out what you want based on the icon. It would be much more simple if they were just in alphabetic order.

Or the category with the most SP first. Anything except for this useless random crap.

As long as I have played, I shrunk mine the first day and haven't looked back. The icons aren't that hard to figure out
I think the order is Ships, fittings, T3 armor/shield, weapons, some other stuff, industry and PI and last I think is trade.

Ships <---------> Trade/Industry. Not an order most would probably go for, but chaos is a form of order.

Edit: forgot to mention I am not against sorting options.

When I look for Armor, I look for the first option in the list because it's A. When I look for the Shield category, I look at the end of the list, not somewhere in the middle. The current sorting scheme is illogical because you expect to read that list in rows, not in columns. Even read as columns, it makes little sense not to sort them alphabetically because Armor again ends up in a position where it does not naturally belongs.

It used to follow the same pattern as the market section on skills. Made it rather easy that way. Now I don't use the list at all, I just use the search.

Sorting options please! Whether it's A-Z, most/least SP, current map, whatever, don't care. Just some way to sort it as it's pretty much the same as if the RNG just vomited all over your work station in its current state.

The current state is as far from RNG as you can get. And is actually a logical method (That of course requires a logical mind to understand).
But sorting options wouldn't be a bad thing, just don't take the current method away.

The problem is that he is right. Read the skill categories by columns instead of rows and it makes somewhat sense (first column Ship/Ship attributes; second column ship equipment/functionalities; third column, this one breaks apart into a mess of ship stuff, leadership stuff, trade and social; and forth column production, resources and science). The sorting order within these columns is still very weird

By the looks of it this is going to be yet another case of CCP sitting things out and waiting for our muscle memories to adapt, just like they did with the undock buttons, the overview icons, industry, and whatnot else.

I've looked at it that way, and even within that there are problems. Sure the first column makes sense enough. The second one is close, but the last two are complete and utter 'Uhhh.... we'll just drop that here.'

And also as you agreed, within the columns there is no order to it whatsoever. Whatever 'logic' was attempted, fails within the first column.

I'm sure if you drank a cup of coffee and studied the categories for 5 minutes (taking some effort) you wouldn't have an issue. But I will say that we all love to customize our games for our liking so I can't fault you for this suggestion.

Except we shouldn't have to do any study at all; we did that when we were 2-3 years old and learning our abc's. A great deal of effort was expended to make it second nature. I see the word armor and I look to the beginning of a list. I see the word trade and I look to the end of a list. I don't have to think about it. It's as easy as breathing. And this skill is transferable to any activity a human could possibly engage in. That is why humans invented this learning heuristic. [stupid insult directed at CCP goes here]

Anyone who thinks they have to subvert a core root tool of human cognizancecognition for no reason is simply being an %$#&@!.

the two-column setup is the result of zero consideration. It was just formatted that way in the layout and published.

this is the opposite of the attitude you should have when it comes to product design.
