Neocom and new icons suck

I think the new icons look absolutely disgusting with the exception of the ship brackets. It has now been two years since CCP ruined neocom and station icons with those monochromatic flat images and I still constantly have to wonder what each of them does (I know shortcuts exist). Now the fitting UI has also fallen victim to the monochromatic disease.
Why does CCP keep doing this? Has their UI design team been playing too much Skyrim? Has no one told them how terrible these new icons look compared to the old ones? Does living in Iceland cause some sort of eye condition?
I am afraid that the goal of CCP is to replace every icon in the game with flat image with absolutely no depth or character to it and I cannot find the words to describe my disgust and hate towards this "art" style.

Those factions that have flyable ships have also had their icons changes to flat versions with no depth to them which look horrible.

The character creator is also using flat white images for EVERYTHING (has probably been using for years but I only just noticed it) instead of the old colorful images with some actual depth to them.
Evemon still has these old icons if you create a blank character if you want to see them.

CCP should give us the tools to modify the UI to our liking. Other MMOs have this feature.

Also new Aura and UI clicking sounds are terrible. Run her voice through some kind of filter to make her sound more like the old one and roll back clicking sounds.

Cool.

Funny thing about UI designs is that they change. Sometimes often. If it's been two years, why are you only whining now?

Flat icons with simple color schemes just seem to be in fashion right now. Microsoft's doing it with Metro Modern UI, Google's doing it (to some extent) with Material Design, etc. I do think CCP has gone a bit overboard with the concept, though.

I definitely agree the Neocom icons are bad, changing them to plain, no color icons definitely killed the futuristic immersion of this game. I also don't like the Overview icons as well.

Really?

I mean what drives you that you find it "problematic" seeing the ui?

Is it,in any case,"bad",confusing or unclear in any kind,or is it just that your personal favor is not realized?

Or has EVE "not to change at all" as some say so that they even jump on suggestions like non fire zones (major trade hubs) or non pvp flagging, suggestions that are not even NEAR going live but simply to metion something like that drives those people crazy because "their EVE would change to the core"?

Changes happen and complaining about them happen is ridiculious.
Get used to them and even if you can't mute yourself.....

Because whining and complaining over a "change of look of the game" is simply childisch and unreasonable knowing that there are greater problems........
Focus on them and not on your personal favors and your idea how the game has to look like....

Because bottom line is....nobody cares......

And anyone that supports you here is simply as childisch and as unreasonable as you are.....and a minority of course....

Indeed.

Unless they care enough to type a full reply to express their lack of caring. Blink

I find this community so varied that anything I might consider complaining about, I usually find someone else already has.

The UI? Well, that will change when the next fad in art & design comes along.

A minority stating its taste as the only acceptable and supporting itself complaining about not realizing its taste does not mean it is a majority.....

In fact to make it clear when i wrote "nobody cares" that was meant "about yout puny whishes how the game has to look".....and "nobody cares about your complaining naturally".....

Too harsh words to be "politically correct" you think?

I don't care about that nonsense called "political correctness" in any way..... :-)

Take a chill pill, Akis. People expressing their opinion about something is not a threat to your existence.

Supposedly the "new" icons are "better" according to "scientists."

In reality, people are built to see color. If, for example, the green icon was the wallet, you'd be able to identify the icon out of the corner of your eye without having to even look at it, and click it instantly The new bad icons, you have to look through them every single time, even if you know what they all look like.

This is another case of CCP chasing last year's trends, failing at it, making the game barely playable as a result. Not the first time they've done it, won't be the last time. This is EXACTLY the kind of thing that's going to kill EVE because it demonstrates CCP doesn't understand human lifeforms. The overview icons are just as bad, if not worse, because now there are dozens of nearly identical icons to try to identify rather than just 3 sizes to remember.

Maxim 6. If violence wasn’t your last resort, you failed to resort to enough of it.

Very good explanation and I agree 100%.
