So I recently started playing EVE less than 2 weeks ago when I heard it went F2P and I was looking for something to fill the void as I haven't been enjoying WOW this xpac and decided to take a break for a while. Really enjoying it as a Miner so far. I ended up upgrading my account within a week when I got an email from CCP offering me to upgrade for 3$ how could I say no.

So I just recently broke 20 mil ISK, and then yesterday I remembered a few years back I started an account with some old co-workers. So I recovered my account and logged in to see what assets the account had. Much to my surprise the account was sitting with 32 mil ISK! Holy crap that feels like a lot for a newbie miner like myself. SO I sent it all to the new account and BAM over 50 mil feeling rich. So I do some mining and grab a drink as my venture does its job. As i'm pouring a drink I notice i'm being attacked by three rats, but hey no worries my drones will cover me. I come back to three wrecks and start looting/salvaging. And then holy crap I loot a Shadow Serpentis Warp Scrambler worth 68 million!!! Now I can't wait till this weekend when my Mining Barge skills finish up and then comes the decision of which Mining Barge to go for...

Awesome new beginning.

Upgrade for 3$?!?! In WoT they are milking EU for money but
this is a whole new level.

Ya I was pretty surprised, I was trying to figure out how long as an alpha clone it would take to buy my first PLEX lol.

for a new barge go with procurer, they are tough, have decent cargo hold and for a newbro who has had some luck, losing your first barge to someone in a catalyst will be harsh. By all means use more efficient ships later, but for now go with security.

Well I just kinda assume anything I fly in is gonna get ganked eventually. But its all a numbers game, you blow me up and I make enough with insurance/mining to get it all back anyway.

Great to see that kind of attitude with a new player. Too many times it's whining about getting killed or rage quitting and not coming back. Goes to show the F2P system is doing it's job.

Also, years ago I used to use a Retriever exclusively. But I see a lot more Procurers now so I'm wondering if they were nerfed at some point. Keep enjoying the game and just know that when mining gets tiresome, there are so many more aspects to the game to keep you interested.

As another new player I agree with your attitude when it comes to losing ships. When you're so young the ships really don't matter.

I've gone the exploration route as it's a little more "hands on" then mining. With that said in my short time I've had a few people tell me "Stay out of wormhole space until you have more isk, or can cloak".

My response is, why?

Yeah I have been killed and even podded once while flying my Imikus. The thing is though a new Imikus outfitted to explore costs a little over 10 million isk maybe. 1 single relic site in WH space nets me like 50 million. So even if I get blown up every other time I go into WH space I'll still be making enough isk to outfit a new ship 5 times over at the least.

Do what you want to do. Don't worry about isk at all and don't worry about dying at all. Just throw caution to the wind and play. It's what I do and I've had fun.

Now if all you have to your name is 50 million isk you might not want to buy a 50 million isk ship and throw caution to the wind then.. Frigates and Ventures though. pfffft just play and have fun and anyone who tells you not to do something b/c you'll likely blow up just say "thank you for the help/suggestions" and move on doing what you were doing haha.

On eof the things I am enjoying about this game is that I can relate every job to a Sci-Fi hero.

Hauling - Han Solo
Exploration - Star Trek lol
Mining - Lando Calrissian??? not sure on this one lol
PVP - Name any villian lol
PVE - Name any hero lol
Industry - Firefly kinda

It's a common and reliable method when dealing with highly addicting products.... First trip is very cheap. Then you get hooked up and have to pay the full price... Blink

Just don't mine forever, you will get bored at some point. The true fun is playing with others, no matter what - PvP, PvE, etc...

And this advice comes from someone who is playing solo. Big smile I am trying to get bored, because this is my last game and if I stop playing it I will say goodbye to games for good (been gamer for over 15 years), but EVE is so special, it just gets under your skin, can't let it go.

Oh I've already experienced a venture gank but that really wasn't a big deal, I had 2 more ventures from the newbie quests and the holiday gifts lol.
