mining is what got me into eve.

Nearly 13 years later, and i'm still playing.

It takes a certain mindset to like mining. much like to took a certain mind set to run 60 pos' reactions and an alliance.

I do the work so you can play. You are welcome.

OMG Comet Mining idea!!! Comet Mining!

Im noob but an answer is better than no answer.

ORE has 3 types of mining ships. Good armor, fast mining (yield) or big cargo for the ore.
You can also fit ships with expanders so their capacity to hold cargo increases.

If you always stay ready you don't have to get ready.

Except there is no module that affects the specialised holds like the ore-hold

I really hope they do that with a module tho. Like, no moon mining from ships, and no un anattended moon mining. You go, dock in station, and cycle the miner. Mining platform is vuln when in use and for X time after last cycle. Larger platforms have shorter vuln cooldowns.

Basically an anchored, more expensive, immobile mining ship. It's invuln when not in use like other structures, vuln when in use.

Now, go anchor them in belts too. Watch content happen.

Maybe a new planet type.

A moon command center for PI

eh, i;m hoping drill platform either a) mines current moons and make a belt, or b, they move moon goo into a new form, and make it so it cna be stolen.

Though if i can deploy a drill platform in under and hour, mine for an hour, then grab it and run that would make my wh dwelling heart happy. otherwise..

I guess you'd need a way to force-vuln them for removal in addition to the use-vuln. Probably need the same required vuln per week as other structures, just less of it. Like an hour per week or something just to make sure its not invincible just because you abandoned it.

You know how most current structures start at "medium"?

I think a "small" with a shorter anchor/unanchor time with no extra fitting options (basically just a deployable drill with a docking bay and control chair) could be cool. Would give people more reasons to fly blockade runners and dsts and ****. People that want to anchor the XL could e murdering the moon with like 7 bonused drills as well as having the refinery and other stuff fitted in the same station and so on. Since its got some extra tank to it you could have subcap situations all over space similar to the rorq mechanics as they are now, when you got people jumping the platform but it has a bit of tank and you're docked inside so you can call in some backup that has a little time to show up.

Having the drill spawn rocks that need to be mined by ships for moon mining is a pretty cool idea too.

How can anybody in their right mind like mining?

Am I missing something?

Tried to get cloaking skillbok ISK by mining, taking forever.

How can that book be 3 500 000 ISK? Could buy the original
Guthenberg Bible for less.

If you repeatedly hit yourself in the the face with a brick, and find that it hurts, then why keep doing that?

I like mining. But not all the time. I do other things too, some or all which you might find even more boring.

Mining fills a certain OCD need I have. Have to clear all those rocks from space.

That aside, if you find something boring in EvE, you should do something else.

I too have noticed the inflation in cost for skill books and other commodities. Also noticed the cost to player buyers for plex also went up in game currency. That explains the inflation the newbs are going on about.

Also where are you mining? Might help if you were in null instead of highsec.

Exactly. If you think something's boring in EVE just don't do it. Do something else.
Even if other pilots tell you the things you are doing are boring. Blink

Well I'm a newbie and got into Mining because I want to fly a big ship lol. It just seemed like the easiest way to achieve it. Plus running my minerals with a full ore hold in my Miasmos is really exciting/terrifying lol. Especially when the highest buyer is 7 jumps away.

But hey maybe i'm wrong, maybe there is an easier way to get into big ships. Any suggestions?

I find solo mining extremely boring.

I rather enjoyed the mining ops I took part in way back when I played in an indy corp originally though. But that was mostly a chat with people where we happened to be mining at the same time. Kind of like going to a baseball game... the game is boring but the socializing is nice. Even then I never mined except as part of a corp op though, even with a second "hauler" account.

I even skilled up to run a hulk... which I have yet to use since returning. I'm kind of regretting that "waste" of sp right now though.

I honestly never remember thinking mining got me more isk than ratting/missions though.

No problem, then. Extract those unwanted skill points and sell them or put them back into your character as skills you want. yw

Missions are more diverse, give much better ISK, valuable standing, and teach you the basics of combat. If you like to get a taste of the real EvE, go ninja gas mining in wormholes with a Venture ... and once you are accustomed to dangerous environments, go out for exploration relic and data sites.

EDIT: Also you will learn, that bigger is different but not necessarily better in EvE. Smaller ships are tremendous fun, they are cheap and fast ... I can fly almost all subcap ships but you will find me mostly flying up to Cruisers in PvP.

I'm my own NPC alt.

If you're into PVE and the technical side of EVE, then mining will likely be the end game for you, along with industry. It involves most aspects of the PVE game play and the most rewarding level progress when you start creating fleets.

If you're into PVP, you won't really value anything that's not blobbing someone
