This toon is still pretty young skill wise 2.4m SP and climbing and am trying to gear it for missions swapping hardeners as needed of course. I am looking for something that will breeze through L2's and still be able to tackle L3's with relative ease.

Here's the fit I came up with so far 263 dps cap depletes in 9:21 with all turrets, tc, hardeners, and the repper on and the ab turned off with ab on it drops down to 6:03 although if fights are lasting longer than that I think I'm doing something wrong.

Should I stick with light drones or bump up to mediums I put lights in there as I have more skills leveled in light being able to run Hornet II's in about 6d and change meanwhile my medium drone is rank 2, in just under 14h Amarr BC III will be done then I got mechanic and repair systems qued up before light drones 4 and 5 once there I plan on slapping 1 rank of calderi drone specialization in before starting hull upgrades 5 trying to get as much core skills done before my 14 day new toon booster runs out as with the booster sitting at 32s across the board except for charisma at 31

I think you will struggle to apply your damage from Beams with only 1 tracking mod fitted, maybe go for pulses.

Try standard crystals (the yellow ones) and instead of tracking computers, fit a cap recharger. Flying the Harbinger, so you hit your prey, will help more and you want your capacitor regeneration to go down as far as possible.

Don't leave your rep on all day. You can only repair to 100%, not more. Turn it of when you don't need it.

Eve Minions is recruiting.

This is the law of ship progression!

In EvE bigger is not always better and a Harbi for level 2 missions simply does not make sense.
Slow tracking means your lazors are going to have trouble hitting anything.
Low skills means your drones are not going to be much better.
Low skills means you will be moving extremely slow in a comparative sense even with the AB so the NPC are going to be hitting you for nearly full damage potential.
Low skills mean poor tank in a mission scenario where you will need it the most.
Better choice would be to go with a good faction frigate, or even better yet a destroyer.

If you want to use the Harbi then switch to pulse lazors they have better tracking than the beams.
Consider equipping with small lazors instead of mediums they are designed to track smaller, faster targets. Remember how much damage you can do is not important how much damage you can apply to the targets that is important. To that end this web site will help you understand this concept. Turret Damage.

Since you choose a fit that uses drones I would suggest the Dragoon (destroyer) instead of a Harbi for level 2 missions. Never flown the Amarr destroyers so there may be some problems with the following fit and I am sure others will correct those flaws. However based on experiences with the destroyers from the other races and theory crafting in a fit tool this seems like it would be better than the Harbi for level 2 missions.

Mission specific light drones x 5

Notes:
Change the nano membranes for mission specific for a better tank.
3 empty highs to do what you want with them. Arbalest Compact light missiles launchers to boost damage is just one option.

EvE Survival is an excellent resource for mission runners. It will give you damge types to shoot and to tank for as well as a lot of other useful information.

1. The harbinger has a bonus to range already.

2. The idea with lasers is to have each crystal type, since you can swap them instantly and they dont occupy much space in cargo.

3. If your powergrid and cpu skills arent high yet you should use only cap rechargers on the midslots. Excepto for an afterburner.

4. You're cutting resources by having a nanomembrane equiped, replace it with a damage control module.

5. T2 rigs are expensive use T1 versions.

6. Replace the optimal range rig with a damage one, replace the powergrid one with a capacitor control circuit if your still get cap issues.

augmented drones are ver expensive, for missions the normal T1 drones can do fine and are cheap to replace, if you feel like getting more resilient ones get navy issue drones or T2.

your fit is good, but it still, the biggest recommendation is to have a set of each frequency crystal for the lasers, since it allows not only to change range (radio to infrared) depending on situation but also increase damage(Ultraviolet to multifrecuency) or save on capacitor (Standard is the highest capacitor saving one, but the rest of the range increasing ones have some of it too).
