Drone Boats OP

Recently returned player and one HUGE thing I have noticed these days playing eve in Highsec, Lowsec and Nullsecc is the amount of Drone Boats...

Due to the amount of neuts and such that lock/jam/drain etc, I have noticed how many people fly drone boats now due to the ability of drones to kill players while their home ship has been locked down.

If you want to pvp in this game these days if you Solo player- best to learn Gallente ships as they have some of hte best Drone boats going hands down!
If you roam in a gang neuts and drones is the way to go.

Not mention big fleet battles as that's entirely different scenario.

The gallente population has exploded since Alpha clones as they all know........

Drones, Drones, Drones is the way to go!!!

This game in my personal view has turned into....

Drones Online.

Drones have the huge weakness of being killable and are the only DPS in the game that is, but every other form of DPS can be countered with ewar.

So if anything, rebalance ewar.

Based on zkillboard stats, only 1 drone boat is in the top 10 ships in PvP. Would be interesting to see CCPs data, taking in PvE as well.

Agreed, drone boats are kind of the meta atm for non-blob warfare. Though gallente drone boats are better dps, I prefer amarr drone boats for the massive bonuses to tracking/missile disruptors and of course the all-powerful energy neutralizer. Worth the drop in dps anyday for pvp, sadly amarr drone boats suck for pve. :(

Of course drone boats DO have a hardcounter to them in the form of smartbombs. But the issue is smartbombs are suicide in highsec, and generally a bad idea even in lowsec unless off of gates/stations. Meaning they are very situational outside null/WH space.

It's nobody else's fault but yours if you don't have drones on your overview.

Wasn't implying anything about not having drones on my overview..........

I was making an observation about how many people fly drone boats these days compared to other ships.

Drones are OP for universal PvE, as they largely sidestep most NPC EWAR.

Gilas and Rattlesnakes have insane role/racial bonuses.

Destroyed drones are an expense in PvP, but hardly an issue since most drone boats can just launch more from drone bay, and again, sidestep most EWAR.

I made an extremely similar post a few weeks ago. I said everyone I see, know, or talk to says nothing but "drones drones drones" and "gallente gallente gallente." I was basically told I was crazy, but glad to see someone else noticed the same thing.
