With all the ways we have to process things it is possible to make large amounts of items, but what if the ability to make them was even further expanded? This is where Atomic Construction would come in, building items atom by atom in a sense. With this mechanic you would be able to build anything and everything with the right components. Now, this is where it would get a bit messy as you would need to harvest atoms. Planets would be an excellent source of this but would limit it to Omega status clones; it would minimize abuse though. All items could be reprocessed into elements on the periodic table. The dream, making Megacyte out of Tritanium... wouldn't be possible still, but I hope the point got through. With this, Chemistry could be added, making reactions obtainable by player creation and even more special variants of items, with an example being T3 100mm "Fullerium" compressed plates (or such). Since making anything atom by atom is tedious it would be better to use the Mole of the atom as 1 (6.22E+23). To minimize the coding necessary molecules would be left out and just raw atoms used. It would work just like industry does now but with more components, variation, as well as trial and error like inventing.

What benefits would this bring that industry and the materials do not? This allows the capability to make everything, so if you don't have something [mexallon] you could make it by decomposing other things and have left over byproduct to produce other things. It would also have 100% output because of the law "matter can not be created nor destroyed". Another industrial benefit is that a blueprint would not be necessary, it would make 100% success if you used one but, if you choose not to you could still make anything, it would just have a really low chance of success. This brings another benefit, if a ship ever loses all of it's blueprints you could still make it (if CCP allows it), like those one-of-a-kind ships or even sleeper ships. As an added bonus you could potentially develop reactive ammo such as corrosive shells to deal DPS to armor without needing to continuously fire. The potential is only limited by the time and effort used to implement it.

Any other insane benefits? Yes, a few... making rigs would also be "simpler", at least compared to gathering the materials. This would hurt the market as rigs would then drop in price due to possible overproduction. The second is to harness the power of the atom, like in the creation of nuke but, in this case, for exploration. Forcing atoms to collide creates a bit of energy and a little bit of gravity, so what if you collided a lot at once? A true particle accelerator that would create enough gravity to form a wormhole. What makes this different from the one that exists? well, this one is in tiers. you can fit a variant to every ship but there are consequences, the smaller the ship, the more likely you are to "disappear". Small artificial wormholes may collapse while you go through, terminating your clone while XL would be stable for a few hours with next to no chance of death.

The End: Now that this is out of my head I can say, CCP will never make this, nor are they capable of the vastness. So you dreamers can keep on dreaming and you Vets can now find something else to waste time you while you AFK or pod people.

Designer materials engineered at the nano scale are becoming a reality in the real world but that level of complexity may not be appropriate for a game. There needs to be a balance between development effort and improved gameplay - Eve has lasted 13 years because the developers have succeeded in keeping the game both entertaining and profitable.

I thought everything in EvE was pretty much built by nanobots anyway, just watch a POS deployment clip
