I'm at war with a particular group who like to camp pipes with alt logi and log off traps. One particular player seems to take exception if he is out played. My question is how many times is it acceptable for this particular player to write abusive messages to you in local before something is done about it?

Report him if you think he crossed the line.

As usual you have been playing this game for entirely too long to ask such silly questions.

Without knowing what he wrote, my first reaction to this thread was: HTFU! It's just smacktalk.

That being said, CCP won't know when your feelings are hurt. And they don't sit there reading chat logs all day. You would have to tell them if you want something done about it.

Preferably never.

PROTIP:
You can be racist to the french by joining calmil and calling galmil frogs or surrender monkeys since Gallenteans are descended from French colonist. Each side doesn't bat an eye if galmil gets called a frog/s since it's all CCP approved lore.

Post with your NPC alt main and not your main main alt!

OP starts a thread hoping to talk about how he outplayed someone, it's not particularly effective and seems to have gone off the rails.

He just realizes he is bad at the game and cant do anything about that than express his defeat in local.

I would just say: Git gud!
And I would block him because he is only cluttering local...

To be real about this:

1) Nothing will happen if you dont report it.
2) Probably nothing will happen if you arent reasonable in your report(at worst youll get in trouble yourself for wasting GM time)
3) The outcome is probably largely dependent on which GM handles it, the history of the player you are reporting (and yours) and the specifics of that incident (including your own actions to the person you are reporting)

My advice is do not respond to the player, and ignore/block them if you so wish.
Try not to take anything that happens in EVE personally.

I'd say as long as it's not offensive IRL let him have it.

This is funny

i remember years ago nothing was sacred. gifs being dropped into local. mothers sexual preferences explored. No one cared.

I think this was because a lot of soldiers were playing and not so many American university students

"Sticks and stones will break my bones, but names will never hurt me"
Used to be the status quo.

Yes, things have changed.

I think its a waste of GMs time from the pressing concerns of other players.
I acknowledge though that according to EULA/TOS such abuse is not allowed on the part of anyone, and that those complaining about abuse, as clients, are nominally entitled to an experience without abuse.

Ive submitted such reports myself here on this board, but never ingame.
My reasons for doing so here are to keep threads ontopic against individuals intentionally and obviously trying to derail it, especially via ad hominem or deliberate misrepresentation.

You have a choice :

1) Don't respond in local - tends to drive that type batshit crazy :)

2) Respond but then its 6 of one, half dozen of the other as to who said what to who & why.

Local "banter" which can be petitioned is basically racist/sexist stuff.

If this follows a gank/fight then its unlikely CCP will do anything other than close the petition unless it offends someone other than the aggressor.

tl;dr random offensive stuff in local will attract a mute/ban if its flagged up; offensive stuff in local after a gank/whatever is unlikely to get you anywhere unless you can prove (for example) that the other player knows you're gay and is throwing abuse at you for that reason. Best just to let them rant without responding to them really.

Zero times.

Pirate smacktalk is fine, abusive messages are not.
