Stations, seriously?

I just wanna talk about the new station visuals, because they're absolutely just... wow.

They're amazing.

Like, seriously. At first I was impressed with the lighting around the Citadels, but now with the stations, the tiny lights of what I can only assume are personal shuttles or Jetson family space cars and the constant stream of traffic in and out of the undock, all I can say is I was absolutely floored the first time I left my home station after this update.

This is exactly the kind of detail I've wished for in space games since ... well, ever.

NPC traders leaving stations were cool and all, helped populate the overview a little bit when the rest of local was empty, but this is absolutely gorgeous to look at, and puts so much into making stations the living, breathing hives of activity they've been suggested to be. Huge immersion points from me.

I don't think anyone appreciates this little Christmas gift more than I do, but, yeah.

CCP rocks. Thanks guys.

I hate to be the curmudgeon here, but I'm kind of on the fence about these new visuals.

And I'm not sure why. It's not that the stations didn't need something to spruce them up, but I'm just not feeling it with this particular way of doing it. It feels like there's something slightly 'off' about them.

If you have have an eye for game design then you quickly notice how bits are faked up which kind of breaks the illusion a bit and can be worse than plainer structures where your mind filled in some of the blanks or just accepted it for what it was. Overall I think I prefer the new visuals though.

C'mon CCP, didn't you go a bit overboard with this? The lights look like a lowrider with LEDs instead of dingle balls, and the phosphorescent lice crawling all over the stations creeps me out.

I had often wondered why the outside of stations never had any maintenance crews or expansion construction in progress, but I chalked that up to unnecessary graphics when game play took priority.

The silent, monolithic presence of the stations had a cold dignity in the vastness of space, now they look like casinos on the Vegas strip.

Yup new stations visuals are great, but adding some moving lights like on citadels and some maintaining drones flying around them would be even better

That's for next year's budget.
The whole thing...

Seriously, though. I like the new visuals. Good work, CCP.
