[Module Suggestion] Adaptive Drone AI or Direct Drone Controller

So I was sitting in my rattlesnake, watching my Gecko land one of five shots on non-moving targets despite my omni-directional tracking enhancer and I thought to myself, if only I could control my gecko like a carrier controls its drones, with the ability to stop the gecko from moving before firing. Then I thought, why not just make it a module?

What I propose is that there be a mid slot module, named something along the lines of Adaptive Drone AI, or Direct Drone Controller. It would be a passive mid slot module that would allow for a pilot to assume direct control of their drones through the current carrier-fighter interface in non-carrier ships.

Why it would be balanced: Obviously any time a mod is proposed most players thoughts (especially with this game) are how could this be exploited? What would it's function be like in PVP? Well the reason that I don't feel like it could be over powered in PVP is that it would not buff the actual stats of the drones, just give more management of them. Could a pilot potentially control their drones to allow them to track better? Yes, naturally it would reward players with better APM and micromanagement. But shouldn't better APM and micro be rewarded in such a fashion in PVP? After all, to even be able to benefit from your own ability to control the drones in such a fashion you'd have to be sacrificing a mid and some CPU to be able to fit it in the first place. The drones would not actually receive a bonus to tracking, damage or speed and only your ability to pilot the drone, while piloting your own ship, would be improved.

Plus it'd be fun as hell to use in PVP.

So, I'm gonna ask a question that might sound incredibly stupid, but keep in mind that I and a great number of other players have never flown carriers nor fly them now: What does this module actually do? If it's not actually buffing your drones, then how would this be worth even considering taking up a mid?

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

unless ive missed something in the time I haven't been flying my carriers, you cant make a drone stop and than fire. If you want something that's not going to move while firing at stationary targets, they exist, its called sentry drones and come in a varity of ranges that I have mine firing in excess of 100kms for caldari lvl 4 epic arc to combat the permajamming.

Yeah, but a gecko at 2,500m not moving shooting at a non-moving target is going to do a significant amount more damage than a pair of Curators at 50km.

If you were able to fly the drones as competently as you can fly your own ship (aka you're able to basically output double the necessary APM and, well, mental processing that your ship would need) absolutely.
