Is there a skill now whereby we can operate multiple ships from one account at the same time?
I ask because I was in a system with 4 players in local including myself and in one asteroid belt were 6 mining skiffs all mining. I went to the next belt to find 3 ventures, all mining. How is this possible?

On your overview they will have a "Diamond" symbol in front of the ships name

Welcome to CCP's new icons, introduced last year. Previously, all NPC ships were red + plus'es, of increasing size, but then they decided to make the icons universal.

So now, player ships are the icons that you're familiar with, and NPC ships are the same icons as player ships, except with a faintly filled-in interior.

Isn't the game just that much better, and easier to play?

In any case, make sure that your Overview has Icon, Name, Type, Distance, Velocity columns. You can then identify player ships by the player's name (BlowMe McFucknuts, or similarly classy names), and NPC ships also by their name (Joint Harvesting Venture).

I give players a background color, depending on their standing, flags and status. So, in the overview, everything that has a solid background is a player ship.

LOL. I went to a belt to check out these NPC miners and found myself caught without backup in a nearly defenseless cloaky Tengu. Had to ragelog DPS and all I had was Panthers. Not even certain the rats had the Tengu pointed, but I went through with it anyway. Couldn't stop laughing as I undocked like, 4 billion ISK in Blops battleships to fight off two interceptor rats

While the Panthers were in warp I started shooting the rats with the Tengu's single light missile launcher and they ran away.
