I came across something today and thought i'd find out if this needed changing by asking you.

War decked a corp with the intention of catching an Orca. Orca pilot has left corp but still sits in belt with his crew. I saw a miner out in a belt and thought I'd go in for the kill. Upon arriving in the belt the target stored his ship in the orca and warped off. MEH.... Thought i'd wait with an alt spying watching for him to come back and reboard ship thinking there would be a delay on how quickly he could restore ship. I was happy to see him come back to belt and reboard his ship and jumped my toon into system and warped to belt. must have taken at least 10 seconds. upon arriving in belt the target restored his ship and warped off.

So yeah.... nice use of an pilot who used to be in the corp i war decked and is now immune in an NPC corp.

Thoughts?

Hmmmmmm... smart corp. Looks like they took a page out of the PvP corp's playbook.
I tip my hat to them.

As long as the Orca is not taking an aggressive action against you or offering remote effects to it's allies, it cannot be touched.

Same thing can be done with the Bowhead. Nothing new here.

Nice whining on an NPC alt.

His tactic is legit.

So you're upset that pilots in NPC corporations don't have to deal with the consequences of being in player corps?

Do you see the irony in your own post?

The whole topic should be in Crime & Punishment, not in GD, so I sure hope you reported yourself for off topic posting as well. Besides, reporting off topic posts in GD will usually only get the topic locked, so, if that's in your interest, just keep it up.

That aside, it's a legit tactic that has existed for about forever. It's a stupid mechanic, but effective. Just deal with it. As an idea, use a neutral bumper in a Machariel to bump the barge out of range before attacking, then jump in/log in your war hero and murder it. That will probably work only once or twice at best, but that's still more combat than you will get out of most miners during a war.

Good use of the mechanic.

It's a mechanic that most commonly benefits pvpers in highsec, so for a pve player to be using it effectively, good on him.

No change needed.

Wardec'ing miners never works. CODE's been saying that for years.

Perfectly legitimate tactic, and actually an impressive one coming from a highsec mining corp.

Is no more or less a legitimate tactic than your being able to wardec multiple mining corps and chase after them in blingy combat ships.

Actually this remembered me of some Orca gank we did and when we warped in the guy stored his Hulks in the Orca so they too ended up on the killmail. was pretty hilarious. Just shows this tactic can go both ways.

As a miner Ive used orca swapping in high sec to land kills on CODE and other gankers. The best is hot swapping to an instalock svipul and killing their spotter/clean up man when hes busy looting and salvaging. Makes them very butthurt.Twisted

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

So, bump the orca away from the miner?
