What's the sense of upgrading your account?

Recently, I decided to upgrade my account to Omega. What are the benefits? Does it grant me a pilot's license? Please, I need all the help I can get before deciding either to get an upgrade or no.

You have the cap to "usable" skillpoints removed, you can use all the stuff that isn't your race, and you train skill points at twice the rate as an Alpha. Max skill queue also gets raised to a year, so instead of having to login erry day, you can set a whole bunch of **** up and not have to worry about it until you forget you have an empty queue a month afterward... like me.

No longer be a second class citizen.
Do it.

A subscription will vastly improve your experience, unlocking a wide array of over 300 ships to choose from, including higher tech level speciality ships. That being said, if you're still training your alpha and haven't maxed his skills yet, then you should do that for free first. Definitely worth subbing to this game imo, but if you can get some skills trained for free first, take full advantage of that. No point subbing if you can't fly anything that you don't already have.

A subscription, though, is the only known cure for the Alpha Plague. I highly recommend you not let yourself suffer it too much longer.

So you decided to upgrade before you knew what you were getting in return?

Tell you what, you send me all the stuff you have and I will give you two of everything in return AND give you a highly detailed explanation of what Omega is. That way you'll have plenty of stuff to start your Omega career :)

To be fair, that was always the ask .
Sub first, then sort your ****.

If you plan to play the game a great deal, then subbing would be money well spent.
If you plan to only play a little, it's absolutely not worth paying for the game.

1 month probably isn't a bad idea for now just for the training speed. Use the opportunity now to find a corp that's fun to fly with. (Flying being the key part... if you're just gonna sit in a chat channel but still be solo, you're probably not going to get much out of the game.) Once you've got a fun corp, you should be able to have fun as either alpha or omega, though staying subbed will widen the sandbox, allow you opportunities to approach experiences in different ways.

Maxim 6. If violence wasn’t your last resort, you failed to resort to enough of it.

the only reason to sub is that you can ****-talk alphas as inferior beings all the time. (no racism, or maybe yes) Twisted

Have you tried to do anything in the game yet that you can't because you're an alpha?

To me, that would be the trigger to upgrade to a subscribed account.

If you aren't hitting walls now with skills, ships, modules, etc. then there's no real need to upgrade only to gain access to faster training (since the other aspects you don't really need yet anyway).

Welcome to the exciting world of being an Omega.

You get all of the above as well as contributing to future expansions of EvE Online and the added advantage that when you complain on the forums, you are complaining as a paying customer and not a whining free loader.

The CSM gets in the way of CCP communicating properly with the players of this game.

After all we are not just players, we are customers.

Time for the CSM to be disbanded.

Yes, that all is great, but do I get a license? 'Cause you know how they love to scream out on us: "Treak or treat! You upgraded your account, but we didn't say that you will get a license! Ha-Ha-Ha!"

You mean a mining permit?

Less facetious:

You can buy a PLEX and activate it (pilots license), or you can add game time in account management, which is cheaper. Both achieve the same thing if used for game time - ie. they make your account omega.

It used to be that a plex or a subscription was the pilot license.

Now with alphas existing I suppose you could say you purchased your advanced pilot's license.

More like a Clone License Upgade, or CLUg.

I vote we change PLEx to CLUg to avoid confusion.

Might be worth looking at the upgrade deals CCP offers and timing it to save a few bucks and get some free goodies.
Typically deals happen at certain times of the year or during promotional events.

Like right now, for example

$8.33 / month for the multi-month packs is THE cheapest I've seen the subscription in a long time. Beats paying $20 per month for PLEX by a long shot.

There are a couple of different ways to look at this, and the way you choose has to do with a number of variables like your financial situation, the amount of time you want to play, how mentally invested you choose to get, etc.

First and foremost, remember that this is a game. How, in general, do you respond to games? Some people get really really serious when there's an ongoing bit of money, and they forget that the whole point is to have fun.

Some people start to feel entitled and turn bitter when they are paying money to get blown up a lot. Is that you? Maybe play for free for a while.

But the two approaches I mentioned above look like this:

1) Milk the free part of the experience to its maximum potential. The way the limitations are set, you can experience pretty much every aspect of the game in some way before you run into the skill limit. So do that, find out if it's worth it to you to open up the full possibilities of the game. There are even corps that will take FTP players in and work within those limitations. You can even experience the social aspects of the game without paying.

2) Dive in and commit a small amount of money each month to get--albeight--slow access to everything the game has to offer. Because you are not a bitter person who expects everything to work your way. Because you understand the mechanics of the game are not about "winning". Because you understand that losing a ship is just as much fun as killing a ship. Because you understand that there is no lvl 81 where you always win. There's a level of "winning" that is called having fun in a game.

Pick which one makes sense for you and go with it. There is more fun and more content in the subscription world than there is in the free world. I'm playing a n00b free toon right now just to see what it's like. You can do a lot of fun things there.

The choice is yours, and you don't need to pick only one.

I honestly feel like I just read fifty shades of dumb. --CCP Falcon

I see no benefits. I can post here with this newfangled Alpha clone, so it's all I need.
