Logged in after a couple weeks away to find 2.4mil skill points?

For the life of me I can't figure out where these came from. They weren't there when I last logged in about two weeks ago, and I can't find any reference in any of the recent patch notes about skills being deleted or skill points being given to players. Can anyone explain this?

They had an issue where people logging with skills finishing in during a certain period lost SP, so they reimbursed them:

Interesting... I wonder why they gave so many sp, 2.4mil is like a month and a half of training.

EDIT: Unless that post actually meant we lost already trained skills in the exchange?

Well now I'm wondering what skills were eaten by the bug... Don't suppose they gave us any way to find out? Last thing I want to do is try to hop in a ship only to find that I'd lost a month of training on its skills...

I am not sure, but if you read that post it seems that the points were "wasted" over-training skills past level 5. That means you shouldn't have lost any skills, but rather just spent longer training one to level 5 than you needed to.

That's how I read it at first, but there is no possible way I overtrained 45 days worth of skill points in the 15 days since ascension released, so either I lost some skills or this bug was ongoing far longer than that post seems to indicate...

Yes it was going on much longer. A lot of it started with new character builds before Ascension.

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

Yep I got the best part of 2 mill on a SP-farming alt (and 700k on another alt) so it pre-dates Ascension by a LONG time. Its also nothing to do with new characters as none of my characters are under 3 years old. Nor is it anything to do with being subbed or not.

My bet is that the bug is/was in the skill queue itself.

CCP could also be giving out MORE than what was lost. They've had server outages that lasted like 8 hours and they gave out 3 days of compensation to everyone; they sometimes give more than necessary just to keep us customers happy.

Or they can just do the the worst case scenario, like if 1 player lost 2.4 mil SP and they gave everyone that amount, because it's just less work to give everyone a number than it is to check everyone's particulars and figure out what's what.

Just say thank you and show appreciation in the forums. They like that.

No its not that. I took a look at the SP-farming alt and it's about right - something patched in October is my bet.

The other alt is on (minimum) 16 day skills so only got 700k.

Othran had a skillqueue change around that time & got no SPs.
