What in the world is this error (?) message?

It depends - it could mean that there is too many people in the area and you have to wait to jump into the system. Or sometimes you see that or a similar message when after downtime systems havent finished logging on yet.

It means that a thing called time dilation (tidi for short) is in effect. Basically, the system you are flying into has too many things happening in it and the server needs to spread actions over an extended time to make sure the hamsters don't die of stress.

It happens from time to time, especially if there are battles going on and the server node has not been reinforced. Sometimes you arrive and wonder why there was a delay since there's only 20 people in system, much like those times on the motorway when everything slows up, you slowboat along expecting a massive accident, only for it all to free up and return to normal with no clue as to why it slowed up in the first place.

I see that occasionally even in low activity systems. If I immediately try again, it usually goes through. You don't necessarily have to wait for the amount of time in the message.

Uggh... Please use http://eve-files.com/ to post stuff.

I hate having to enable a dozen tracking scripts and cookies, then having to disable and purge them all.

CCP has a large room filled with server blades, but still, 5000 star systems + 2500 wormhole-accessible star systems means that each server (node) runs several star systems.

So when there's a huge battle out in 0.0 space between two large alliances, and about 10,000 pilots are flying and shooting in there, that particular server node is overloaded, and the other few star systems that are on the same server also behave as if they're lagged.

That particular message means you can't use the stargate for a bit, because the server is too busy to transport you into the solar system right away.
