So disappointing that Cyber Monday came and went and NOTHING from CCP. Wow, they missed out on the most money spent online day throughout the entire world. Even Europe and Asia take advantage of it, just to get more money from their customers.

CCP - You might want to fire your marketing department or whoever goofed BIG TIME yesterday.

P.S. - Black Friday is for Physical stores that you walk into. Cyber Monday is for online discounts and purchases. Added this just in case someone had their head stuck in the ice for the last 10 years.

I'm apparently from one of the countries that has it and I had no clue, but based on the wikipedia article, it isn't something widely observed:

As someone who lives in Germany, I can safely say that although it is "observed" here, the German stores really don't participate all that much, even when compared to the UK. Sure, Amazon has it's Cyber sales, as do a handful of other e-tailers, but that's about it. Black Friday really isn't all that big outside of the US and Canada.

We're very sorry that a company that isn't from your country doesn't do things like you're used to. Obviously your country's way of doing things, combined with your own experience, is the centre of the universe.

CCP have been having a raging sale on SKINs and some old content in their item store over this whole Halloween/Black Friday/Cyber Monday thing.

It was advertised via email and on the launcher and on the character selection window and in-game notifications. Now certainly it wasn't always advertised specifically as "Black Friday" or "Cyber Monday" but they've had up to 80% off old SKINs and they're promoting the Confessor "Star Captain" skin for all they're worth. Then there were the substantial PLEX discounts. I almost bought stuff, but then as I pulled out my credit card the picture of the Tesla Model 3 came out with it and I remembered that I'm being a stingy Scrooge for the next two years.

Apologies for confronting you with the facts. It's one of those things that post-fact science-free USA is going to have to get used to for the next four to eight years I'm afraid.

PS: CCP's sales were better than Apple's trite attempts to "heavily discount" old stock by a few percent. At least CCP tried.

PPS: for the rest of the world, Black Friday is any Friday that happens to be the 13th of the month. It's a day that we celebrate by petting black cats, walking under ladders, breaking mirrors, summoning Satan, and extending umbrellas while inside.

We definitely need another holiday celebrating "Shopping / Consumerism". There is just no other reason to go shopping four weeks before the festive season.

I am confused. You seem to understand this distinction, yet don't realize that CCP is an internet presence without "physical stores". Why do you think they would have a Black Friday sale and then a Cyber Monday sale? That would be a little redundant.

Besides, Cyber Monday isn't really a thing anymore, or at least its distinction from Black Friday isn't. It was completely invented, of course, by marketers trying to get you to buy stuff, but stems from the phenomenon where Americans would make a bunch of purchases online when they got back to work after their Thanksgiving holiday and to a fast internet connection. Given the increase in access to fast internet, both at home and mobile, online sales no longer cluster as much on the Monday, but are now spread all along the week leading up to Thanksgiving and over Thanksgiving itself.

Although I find the American obsession with shopping over spending time with their families of academic interest, I really don't see what this has to do with an Icelandic internet game company and its sales. I think it pretty strange though to think CCP would have a Black Friday sale and a completely different Cyber Monday sale a few days later given they have no physical stores.

He needs to buy more "freedom" by exporting it to other countries by telling them who and what to be and do.Roll

That's right.

You better sit down, because I'm about to give you the hard truth.

Nobody outside the US gives a **** about the US. You are not the greatest country in the world and you are not liked by the rest of the world.

When you don't know the difference between there, their, and they're, you come across as being so uneducated that your viewpoint can be safely dismissed. The literate is unlikely to learn much from the illiterate.

Wow, they've really got some people thinking that the purpose of a holiday is to have sales for you to buy stuff, don't they? Before you know it, every day will be a holiday just so corporations can convince you to give them more money.

I'm thankful for my credit card enabling my purchase spree.

That's probably what Americans should say at their thanksgiving dinner by now...

Pretty skins make you fly faster? They ruined the original nice skins on ships with rust layers hoping we will buy skins that does not look better than the original skins. I want the old clean Orthrus skin back, same for the SNI. I can now choose between rust or go to the pixel store and get a 'discounted' pink skin with purple stripes and stuff. No thanks!

CCP did have a Cyber Monday event this week. The key difference is that instead of goods, the merchandise on sale was ore. Also instead of currency, everyone paid with Rorquals.

Your "hard truth" seems to be filled with salt. Are you from the Dead Sea area perhaps?
