Alpha Clones In J Space

I'm starting up an alpha clone cooperation that i want to base in a wormhole. What would be major concerns for the alphas in the different categories of wormholes?

My thought Is that J space would have much more opportunities for Gas harvesting ventures. When combined with a method of going on one way wormhole jumps on death or glory roams to random parts of New Eden, there seems like plenty to offer Alpha pilots willing to leave high sec.

Are there any other activities that alpha clones can run from a Wormhole home? Where should I look for a Corp to rent space in a Citadel in J space? What are the challenges that are set out before me and my friends that wish to fleet alphas in J space?

Any advice would help.

My first thought is that you want to base out of a C1 if you are putting down roots. Because you can't fly anything bigger than a cruiser, the C1 hole restrictions don't really affect you, and but it will hurt any hostile 'visitors' you may have.

Alternatively, look for a Wolf Rayet system, as those massively favour small (armor) ships.

Ideally, you want a setup that favours your strengths as alpha clones and mitigates your weaknesses.

You could realistically go as high as C4 Wolf-Rayet with a slew of Gallente & Amarr toons (no Caldari or Minmatar; they literally cannot armour logi) running Catalysts / Incursus / Algos (ish) / Execqurors. C5s you'd need at least one Omega for dank command bonuses.

Other wormhole choices could be Cataclysmic (RR buffs help everyone) or Magnetar.

Alternatively, a C1 / Z060 or an E/N C2 with the right plan for ISK making would be quite profitable. Nullsec ratting in high DPS low sig cruisers (AB Vexors, etc) is reasonably profitable.

It's not just gas mining, though. You can indulge in dank actual mining, and lets be honest, Arkonor is better than Plagioclase no matter what.

The only real hindrance Alphas face is the cloaky factor for PVP and hunting. If you're happy losing a bunch of Ventures a week for 20M ISK per hour in the non dying-and-screaming 5 minutes a week of ganking, then you can make a bunch of money.

Concerns - the lack of a cloak hurts for exploration and scanning your home down, also as Alphas can't use battleships how easily could they roll holes?

For Alpha activities; there is mining, ratting, PvP and exploration (look for the pirate data and relic sites).

As mentioned look for a Wolf Rayet C1-3 as that will mitigate some of the Alpha drawbacks i.e. lack of tank and dps, a Pulsar may work too. I am not sure how well Alpha's could tank the rats in the higher class holes. If Alphas are limited on hole rolling then a C1 with a non HS static would be a better bet.

Don't rent space, find your own hole and stick up a POS (at least a medium) its cheaper and in a low class hole may be easier to defend. A hole with a LS static would be good, Faction Warfare space would offer a good opportunity for PvP.

I agree that the choice of static is important. What many potential wormholer's don't realize is that you will quickly run out of sites in your home hole if you are at all active, so you will want your static connection to generate additional content.

A null sec static will give you the best ratting, and good ninja mining. But it also means that you are completely dependent on wandering wormholes for logistics. A low sec static gives you decent ratting and mining, while also offering reasonable access to high sec. Low sec would be my preferred static, but I don't focus much on the iskies.

1) a) So you die in an 800K ISK Imicus a few times. Or you make it cap stable and sit at a safe spot with an MWD running, aligned to a moon or w/e.
1) a) i) As always, if it's not cloaked, it's bait. Be bait, and be good at it.
1) b) Pretty sure they can use 100MN cruisers.
