Ive never really enjoyed eve knowing that as soon as i stopped paying i couldn;t play anymore. it was a real buzz kill. id play the trial or id buy like a six month subscription and every time i logged on i felt like the clock was ticking to my account demanding more money or me being locked out. id end up only playing for a few days or weeks with months to spare but not caring and just uninstalling the game having had wasted money. Now that its free im enjoying chilling and doing missions from time to time when im bored. yall should have made it not free but a one time payment. i woulda probably bought it for what we get for free now. but thanks guys i never thought eve would be free.

Troll level 0/10

Eve is not free. CCP is allowing Alpha accounts free access to certain aspects of the game at 1/2 the training speed. Nothing is ever "free". All those F2P games have some gimmick to force non-paying players to pay via an item mall or some other pay wall in order to advance through the game. How else is a F2P game going to stay afloat?

One time payment? You realize they are constantly improving the game?

As a fellow alpha it ain't free. It was scummy wording by ccp but I can **** around on the weekends and mine.
Tho deep down it upsets me I can't fly bc or battleships. Everyone else is flying t2 and t3 stuff.
Sad the coolest ships in the game are neglected and I can't ever get one as it currently stands.
I almost cried when I saw the apocalypse reskin in my eve news letter

But yeah the game ain't free. I can't get any of the ships I like on this guy except the maller. It's the only cool "small" amarr ship

Don´t forget the executioner and the navy slicer. They are not just cute little ships, they are also very good, alpha friendly kiting ships :).

Althoguh I've played EVE in the past like I said I never really got deep into it so I wouldnt know what the bigger ships and PvP is like since I never got that far. But I do know that if you dont enjoy the low level aspect of a MMORPG then youre not going to like the endgame either cause its just more of the same. I used to play a lot of Phantasy Star Online for example. Always trying to max out the character and get rarest items before flipping out when I finally got it all and still not being happy. These days I realize that if I'm not having fun with the low level stuff then I'm never going to be happy. With that said, I may end up finding out that they did in fact make free accounts too gimped to compete with paid players when it comes to PvP and yes that would be quite annoying. But for now I'm doing everything I was doing when I paid in the past except now I don't feel like my wallet is being drained every day.

Do you feel this way when driving a car - knowing each time you use it you'll eventually have to shell out more money for gas to continue using it. Or perhaps your internet, or water, or electric, or any other service you subscribe to?

Relatively speaking, $15 a month for a possible ~730 hr/mo of entertainment is some of the cheapest entertainment you can find. Even if you only played 30 minutes a day it's still by far some of the cheapest quality entertainment you can find.

I do this from time to time. That point is when I decide to keep a service, move to something different, or cut it out altogether.
And there are definitely actions I would do differently if something were free... Parking anyone?

I choose to walk/bus to work because the costs of parking became silly. But I live close enough to work that I can do this. That it was a primary reason for choosing my apartment location helped.

I also have a few friends* that don't understand when I tell them that I don't even own a TV, let alone cable beyond Internet. Explaining this to the service provider is nearly harder than explaining to my TV-addicted friends.

OP = Glass half full person
Eve Community = Glass half empty people

Can you people not even once let someone believe in something that does not exist? Over a billion people do that in RL already, so let people at least dream on in a game....

I can appreciate this. It's one thing to turn to a game maker and complain about costs of a subscription, but if you live this sort of lifestyle, apart from just a pick and choose method or complaining to complain, then it's something to admire. Being frugal is a virtue few people have.

I agree so much with you !

I think they should also make oil free for my car because every time i put gas in my car i feel like the distance i can travel with it is limited and once i don't have money for gas anymore i find myself leaving my car at home and not using it anymore.

I think they should give food for free at the grocery because every time i go there i buy like 100$ worth of food. Every time i open my fridge i feel like the clock is ticking and i should eat that food right now or i end up wasting my money on unused spoiled food.

I think they should give cinema tickets instead of selling them because every time i sit in the chair i feel like at some point what i paid for will be over and i will have to pay again if i want to see it one more time.

My boss thinks i should not be paid at all at work because every day the job has to be done all over again and again and again. My boss suggested to buy my life once for like 60$ than i would work for him as many hours a day he likes, sometimes over 30 hours in a row when he really go all hardcore on me. He said i would only have a 1 hour down time a day in order to put myself back together before i keep going.

I guess i made my point clear.

.......

After reading the rest of the replies i realize some have made the same kind of statement... I claim freedom of speech ! Even if my opinion is far from different and original !

well i will take an alpha clone over not being able to play at all. ill just play for free until i can buy a plex in game then use my good ships. so if im not spending real life cash that dose make it free to play as omega. well at least when they fix the bug it will be. ill use some one else cash to play for free just by doing what i want to do in game.

so in my eyes the beautiful game of eve online at omega state is truly free to play.
