The character sheet says:
Train skills at 2X speed.
I don't think this is true. I see no speed difference.

Infinite skill queue
I don't think this works properly. Mine still stops at 50 entries, just as it has done for a long time.

Unless I am not seeing it, which is eminently possible, I still don't see how long my subscription is valid, even though I can extend it. Surely, it is not beyond the boundaries of current programming possibilities to actually display this?

I love the new voice. I understand that some people don't like it, but I would submit that tastes differ and that it is hard to please everybody. Still, I think we should be grateful that it is not one of those Donald-Duck-potato-grating voices with vocal frying that are so popular in North America. I like the slightly German-sounding accent, it makes the voice a little exotic.

There is still no voice for certain aspects of the game. I would love to see that added, such as "Scanning", "Crystal depleted or worn out", "Ore hold full", "Jumping from XXX to YYY", "Arriving at XXX" and more.

As so many others, I see no picture on the character sheet. I don't miss it. Actually, I *do* see it now. There is a small downward-pointing triangle below the close button in the top-right of the window. When I click on it, I do see the picture. Personally, I don't care one bit.

** I saw that the word c-u-m was replaced by asterisks. Why? Surely, a word that simply means "with" should not be censored? Nor should any other, in my opinion. This type of hypocrisy should not occur in a modern society. If people want to use rude words, they should be allowed to. At the most, it just shows how crude they are.

But you do manage to put in some long, long hours of endless complaining on the forums, regardless. Roll

Only about an hour a day, mainly because when I am paying for a product I like to be able to use that product in a reasonable way without having to turn off options that used to be enjoyable.

Your right in part, I do complain about poor design decisions. If CCP didn't take so much pride (and some Devs weren't so arrogant) in such poor design decisions, I'd have more time to play the game...

And in all honesty - My sig applies to you here.
I don't force others to read my posts and if you don't like them - Your free to skip over them.

My opinions are mine.

  If you don't like them or disagree with me that's OK.- - - - - - Just don't bother Hating - I don't care

It really is getting harder and harder to justify $23 a month for each sub.

Well... looking at someCCP feedback and responses like "nope" to a ton of requests to get the old voice back certainly made me see there's some serious "issues" here somewhere.

Like most others I love the game, - but I dont like people changing what I like to something I absolutely dislike
and then telling me (and all others who suddenly have to go from having something we love - to getting something we hate) between the lines: "we just dont care that you don't like it, you shall have it like this whether you like it or not".

I had to turn the voice off on all 4 of my characters so as not to be constantly annoyed, as I think a few thousand others have done as well. So you just removed an important part of the "ambience" of the game for me and so many others.
You tell us this is how it's going to be from now on. OK.
So we have permanently lost a part of the game that was a signature of the game.

We know that sound is important - everyone knows that, try watching a YT video with bad sound - everyone turns off such videos sound after less than 30 seconds. 30 seconds is an eternity when you are faced with something as annoying as a sound that creates negative feelings/annoyance.

For all human beings sounds are extremely important - imagine any movie you ever enjoyed or got exited about, and then try to picture yourself achieving the same great emotions if some inappropriate annoying music was set to the same movie, it doesnt even have to be noticeably inappropriate - but when you have set the bar already any change becomes extremely noticeable.

Imagine the owners of the LoTR franchise or Blade Runner or any other great movie suddenly deciding to remove or substitute one of their main female characters voices when they are setting the mood for that scene - like changing Galadriel's (Cate Blanchet's) serious voice by the fountain to Mila Kunis screeching/ indifferent / happy go lucky moments from that 70's show. (not deriding her, the use of that shows characters voice was exaggerated &intended.

Now try to imagine the owners changing it on all future dvd's or whatever medium it will be sold on, and then telling us the product is better or even acceptable - simply because all "focus groups" and commercial PR companies studies tell the rest of the industry that "boys and young men "respond favorably" to such and such female voices.

So whats the end result here: Well. you have destroyed the feeling, ambience and mood of a Rembrandt, a Blade Runner, a product that was made for a specific mood and environment and - intentionally or not - you have had it clash horribly with some market research PR "ploy" and technique that almost every user now is able to see through, and it seems you make it a priority to gain income from this - and NOT a priority to keep the mood and special relationship between the environment of the game and not correspond consistently with the rest of the game, nor keep a good relationship with your most loyal users,in order to gain some doubtful long term benefits.

Well, in my case you have achieved a couple of things: as I say, I've lost what I considered an important enough part of the game so that even though I very early on turned off all the other sounds, I kept only the ships health warnings + a few things - the Aura voice was among those very few sounds apart from the ships warnings - so, in essence, these were the *few* things that actually "told me" -audio wise - that I was playing EVE. These sounds were and are the main last most important pillars of the game that gives the EVE feeling other than when one sometimes goes back to the EVE music for the nostalgia of course.

Most of the time we all have something else running in the background - radio, music, lectures, spanish courses or whatever it is we need or feel like - while we all love the original EVE music, it's not possible for anyone to listen to the same thing months on end. But Aura was that last non intrusive part of the game - and thus what "let you know" you were playing EVE, and given "the EVE feeling".

This is not how it is anymore. You have made the voice not only intrusive, and removed its connect with the rest of the game's ambience - but you have made it almost insulting by showing us that you too are stooping to the male-female advertising sex-connotation trick that all to many advertisers stoop to: making their female voices sound like a "sexually "available" / positive partner and all the rest of the gory, less than sublime platitudes from the PR industry.

The problem is, that is not how you create a good movie, good art, good emotions, good ambience, mood and feelings in an escapist combination of all those which a video-game surely is.

What you have created is a blatant in your face howling discrepancy between what WAS "a Blade Runner" and now is resembling more and more a Blade Runner which the owners have no qualms at setting Benny Hill music too, painting pink, or removing the main features from if only a PR company can tell them - "hey, this playing on sex thing *always* works - dont bother listening to the complaints".

It's not only discomforting to have to imagine this - it's downright *feeding* negative emotions, negative almost to the point of preventing me from wanting to visit Fanfest on Iceland - no longer feeling CCP are people who care about both their own product AND the player base using it or their enjoyment.

I dont ever*want* to become or even stay that negative - but as you might have gathered from all the latest response - you may start to appreciate how important sound really IS, and how it sets the tone, mood etc. - and sets it on such a fundamental level, that if you mess with it, you are actually achieving exactly the opposite of what you set out to do.

I have thought a lot about this, since for me, the game has become important - therefore the sound is important.
I hope you will reassess and reconsider.

The new Aura needs to stop taking drugs - 'speed' is bad for you, it rots your brain and is highly addictive.

And...it makes you sound like the new Aura.

So the response from CCP re the requests to look into ways to offer a solution to the Aura voicegate discussion is "Nope"

Not even remotely. I happen to like the new voice and the speaking style. I totally love it. Please do not bring back that old tired-backgroundish-sounding voice. I have no use for it, and add more samples please!

Well then, your hearing must be a lot better than mine (actually not that hard). I don't mind the new voice but it would be a lot clearer and less grating if it were slowed down, by say 10%, so that I could actually hear what Aura was telling me. The old voice's diction was a lot clearer and although most of us could join in with "Warping to stargate" or "The module has run out of charges" there are times when new messages may be critical and if you can't understand them then "Boom!"

I have heard that the same voice actor was used on both occasions so why the new voice is so hurried and high pitched has me puzzled.

Everyone knows CCP are stubborn but I think that they might have a change of heart. They did after all change the "Docking request excepted" original offering to the correct pronunciation "Docking request accepted"

If more people had logged on to Sisi whilst Ascension was being tested CCP may have had more adverse comments about the new Aura. We did try and partly succeeded. Now Ascension is in the wild we'll see if the cries of anguish have any more effect.

Here's hoping they will.

After hearing more of the voice samples, I think new Aura is mostly okay. Except for the 'warp drive active' sample. Which unfortunately is the most important one because I hear it all the time.

The 'a module has run out of charges' sample is actually better now, the old one was very annoying.

Still wish the Aura voice was more 'computerized'. I'd prefer it to a simply real-sounding voice.

Aura's voice was the soul of Eve.
The character sheet was fine as it was.

Did anyone ever express dissatisfaction with these elements? Change for change's sake.

Suggest using focus groups made up of players to run changes by before making them.
I heard they had one and it's called CSM? Might be wild rumors.

CSM = Focus Group = LOL.
We haven't had a CSM worthy of the name for years.

They certainly aren't representative of the Eve player base as being a focus group...

Because the new voice of Aura was apparently dubbed by a duck, we want CCP propose an option to choose the original voice or the "ducky" one. Please bring back Aura's voice !

Nah, the most important one is "connectin". It makes me cringe every time and not to ever connect again.

Ascension is at version 1.4 now?
Okay...

Eve Online Ascension v1.0.4 would have been good enough, don't you think? Doesn't v1.1 really require more to be done than just small patches?

Actually, it should be good...
I can't wait for that Ascension v3.0 update, when you've only changed some text somewhere.

Indeed.

1) "Demolition Man" changing references from Taco Bell to Pizza Hut.
2) The digital edits, insertions, and rearrangements done to Star Wars.

Ugh. Straight

Well, I would sign that petition if you had not chose an petition site that requires a compulsory donation.

What?

*Edit*

So it does not "require" a donation, it just seems like it does. Your sig is actually accepted without a donation.

I am personally surpised that the new voice made it through quality control (I asume it needs to be aproved first before it's added)... and I am even more surpised that if the new voice was available on the test server that the players didn't speak up about it (it's your fault too dear testers). This new voice could have been avoided, but nobody stepped on the brakes.

They seem very tetchy when anyone mentions the problems with the old voice. As if there is some kind of emotional connection there.

Perhaps the new Aura is a wife / girlfriend / daughter / sister of one of the members of CCP?

Petition #309919

I have experienced loss of skills since Ascension.

For instance, I know for a fact that I have finished Torpedo 5, but now it shows that I only have Torpedo 4. I also suspect, but I’m less sure, that I have finished Covert Ops 5.

I have been away from the game for a while, and only logged in on this character now. Looking at the history, I can’t see any updated skills since October 3 in the history tab. The character has been active and has trained for the whole time I was gone.

Silly question. Are you and Alpha clone or an Omega clone currently?

If you are an Alpha skills are limited to race and very few level 5 skills.

However if you re-activate Omega state (sub) you get your skills back, they are just suspended during Alpha state.
