Eve Client Freezing System

Hi Guys and Gals,

I have been trying for months to fix this problem, but the eve client keeps freezing my entire machine at random intervals. Then I have to do a hard restart, re-log into eve and try to get my ship to a station. It will freeze flying my ship around or looking at items in a station, etc... I can run every other game I have (Doom 3, Borderlands, Half Life 2, Fallout: NV, Civ 5, etc) on high settings for hours without an issue. The freezing only happens in EVE.

Searching these forums and others have helped but haven't fixed the problem.

Things I have tried:

Updating on board sound drivers
Installing new Sound Blaster sound card with new drivers
Disabling all game sounds
Updated video card drivers
Keeping an eye on cpu and video card temps, both of which are not overheating
Checked the event manager and no reports about eve

My hardware (soon to be upgraded to a quad core cpu):

AMD 2.6 dual core
nVidia GTX 460 SE
4 gigs RAM

I love the game and play a lot, but this issue will make me uninstall it for sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Just wanted to confirm you are not alone I too have this issue and as you say its very annoying and really puts you off wanting to log in. I too have tried everything I can think of to try and rectify this to no avail. For me it is at it's worse on the Map my client will lock up every 3-4 seconds for about 20 seconds at a time and continues in this cycle.

‘No, this isn't it at all. Make it more... psssshhhh’.

I, too, am having this problem. It seems to be a display issue for me but after installing and reinstalling the latest display drivers, I'm still freezing. Its random, though. Sometimes the game will run for 1-2 hours and crash and sometimes itll crash on login ... no trends .... Restarting works ... but no ideas ..

It started a few days ago. Id say 3-4 days ago. Maybe 5.

*Reinstalling game client right now. I'll post results.

I've had similar issues when they introduced antialiasing options. I just disabled it and now it's fine again. The game might freeze maybe once in 2 or 3 weeks while being in a station for quite some time without real interaction (opening/closing windows or whatever).

Sorry for the late reply to this thread, but I have a response from the GM's and it seems to have fixed the issue.

Here is the response:

See if renaming your cache and settings folders helps. Corrupt cache or settings files can be the cause of the issues you're experiencing. To do this you need to do the following:

1. Close all your EVE clients
2. Use the keyboard shortcut "Windows Key + R" to open the Run window
3. In the "Open" field paste the following:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\

4. Rename the folder "EVE" to "EVEBackup"
5. Launch the game again, and see if the issue persists.
6. If it persists, just delete the new "EVE" folder created and rename "EVEBackup" to "EVE" in order to recover your settings.

Please do note that renaming this folder will reset all the client settings to default settings. This includes ingame browser bookmarks, locally saved ship fittings and overview settings.

I was having a big problem with system lockups (mostly when undocking - a few times in level 4 missions)

i did this and it seems to have worked. Thanks.

Edit:
Maybe this is part of solution, but it's not the whole solution, at least not for me. My latest attempt to stem the tide of failures is turning off triple SLI. The jury is still out. I also turned off all overclocking and have reset to system defaults where possible.
