Workaround to the Steam problem ?

Hey fellows.
I run EvE via steam. Always did it that way. I have one account only and it was perfect for me.

Of course, with the coming of Ascension, I would like to create a new *account* (not character), a new character in that account and experience the much-expected new player experience.

Problem: Steam only allows one account. When I click on "add account" on the launcher, the option of choosing or creating an account is blocked.

I assume that I should play EvE Online outside steam.

Can I just uninstall the game from steam, install the new launcher from CCP's website and link to my (ex) Steam account + a new account so I can have the two accounts in the launcher's menu ?

Will it bring problems to the steam-created account ? Is this even possible to do ?

I didn't try it yet, because I'm afraid to loose all my fittings, notes, etc... Basically loose everything that is saved locally.

What should I do ?

I think it's related to the fact that steam created eve account does not have an account name or password (steam auth).

As i have never used steam version i can't be sure. if nobody come up with a workaround by the time steam version is finaly set to f2p, i'll run some test.

They are updating their software on steam later today to allow alpha accounts to play f2p.

I assume then it won't be a problem.
