the hype of a flood of new players and all this is a load of kakah. I would love to see the statistics after 2 weeks of how many real new players ccp can relatively assuredly show. I am sure we will see a lot of returning bitter vets. and this is a excellent way to get them back. All be it temporarily as the main issues with pvp and especially how large fleets actually work haven't been addresses.

OP wanted to say that CCP doesn't address all the things which (in his mind) led to need to Alpha from the start. For example: some people believe that one of such things is restricting of PvP in high-sec.

I cannot say what leads to players leaving the game but for me it does not look like all the things CCP are doing can help solve this problem... What? Hoping here to be completely wrong.

Hahaha can of worms question.
Personally for me its big fleets are not anything like the trailers said they would be. Mainly because Eve has issues with Line of sight mechanics and nothing to force fleets to bring a wider variety of hulls in their doctrines. So it all becomes a case of two balls of ships primary a ship from the other ball until on side can't either hold reps or can't break the others reps. My FC non stop moaning for more line and file dps ships even though flying that is boring and really just a case of following the leader and pressing F1 when told.

Eve is really fun when brawly fights happen normally with suicide fleets or in small gangs of l;like 5v5. Its mundane and unchanged in large fleet fights from what it was 6 years ago.

Why 2 weeks? That would be no different from the trial period. Less I think. It would be more fair to see how many alphas start paying after a month or two.

i dont get it, wider variety of ships in fleets? in the usual large fleet i see a wide variety of ships.

ceptors/tackle, maulus/ewar, command destroyers, bomber wings, hics, t3's, battleships of various kinds, logi cruisers, triage, carriers, dreads, etc etc, that looks like quite a wide variety of ships in the usual large fleets imo or am i missing something? i kinda agree large fights are boring and always say small/medium gang is where this game shines

dunno what fleets you go on but mostly i see fleets made up of one or two ships as their core. Machs, nightmares the ever famous Drake of old. Svipuls or arty stilletos are also common to see in 70+ fleet cores at the moment.. They really should try something to make big fleets more brawly and less decided by logi or dps numbers/doctrine setups/

Two weeks? Christ, set it that low if you intentionally want to be disappointed. Let's try a couple months maybe?

If training time is going to be at half speed then it will take around 6 months to max out just the skills you can train on a single character. If the numbers are up severally then anything that these accounts can do will be limited in isk/hr and will take longer to plex if they choose too. Each subsequent plex will likely e less and less work though, yet if they drop to alpha the original plex making times will apply again somewhat again.

So yeah 3-6 months might be a better target to get the hang of Eve.

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

I figure when Alpha clones launches I'll:
-Create Alpha char
-Hang out in the starter/new player corp chat
-Realize that because new guys say uninformed/erroneous information things, it's not because they're cute little dumb things. It's because they're new.
-Assume that anybody who wants to join a game with EVE's reputation as complicated and vicious is an intelligent person with some guts.
-Explain that high sec ganking is just the way it is. You're a fish out in the ocean, there's always a predator trying to make you prey. You have to have situational awareness and a tactical plan. How fun is that? Much fun.
-Tell stories about Fanfest, PLEX for Good, and other amazing good and strange things that horrid Eve players do. But not try to explain it. Too unexplainable, I'm not a qualified professional.

There's already been an influx of vets and people who tried the game years ago and dropped it.
Accurate market research has shown that people love free stuff. Waving money at dumb people always works, in days of old it was done indirectly by promising $AVING$! or BARGAIN$! but now it's come down to just MORE NEW FREE as the most heard rattle of the farmer's stick in the bucket to get the pigs to the trough.
I've been listening to business moguls talk about what's wrong with eve and how CCP are terrible for years. Problem is these business moguls are in the same niche as every taxi-driving opinion fountain or debt-ridden barber: they figure their opinion is as weighty as any. They are wrong.
