I would be interested in seeing logs - please file a bug report and attach the launcher logs. It's easiest to find them by going to the View menu in the launcher, Reveal in Finder, Launcher Logs.

If I understand this - I have similar issues, but mine comes from the window not wanting to become the active window if I have been swapping back and forth between different applications. Normally swapping apps works - or just minimizing the eve window and then unminimizing it works.

A lot of the issues can be fix quickly by just changing applications. Clearing cache files and sometimes just a good old restart on the mac.

Edit - and once you restart - play with logging in the back ground so Snorlax can have something fun to read on his days off.

CCP Snorlax must be super busy. We haven't heard from him in a while. Wonder if all those log-lite files are helping.

Yeah, sorry, been quite busy. I'll get back to Wine issues in a few days.

Make sure you have the latest non-dev version of Wine selected in the launcher preferences. Latest dev can be quite unstable and can jump between three different branches so I don't recommend using that except for testing specific versions.

Thanks. Any word on DX11 support. Everything seemed to shut up about it.

Reporting massive framerate drops once I switch to wine.

As long as I am using Cider, all works smooth at high fps but as soon as I switch to wine, my framerate drops into the unplayable even though all graphical settings remain the same.

When I switch back to Cider, all works well. Tried switching around between them and always the same issue that can be experienced. Is this known to happen on some machines?

On El Capitan here with a i7 Quad Core and 16GB of Ram.

All the best,
Vayaa

I have the same issue...All is/was great under Cider (since No changing back anymore as far as I know).

I was sailing smoothly with ALL settings on HIGH, only the shadows on LOW, DX9, and the asteroid environment OFF. Some fields had a million tiny rocks to make it look "special", but I found it incredibly annoying.

Playing fullscreen at 2560x1440.....

Under Wine on the other hand: low fps, fps drops, chop, lag...etc....

I've been trying different settings and ALL settings on LOW, Shadows OFF, AA OFF, PR OFF...and yes, ALL unchecked except the turret option, the game remains to be close to unplayable...

I saw some posts on other forums stating that Wine always has had problems with opengl. But none proposed a solution or workaround.

I took a look at this >>> https://wiki.winehq.org/Performance <<< nothing really that ca help so far...

I did everything according to "the cider to wine" thread on the forum. I have no clue if there is a command that can be used in Wine debug thing that could help the many people who have a bad Wine experience...So actually running out of ideas...

iMac (27-inch, Late 2013), 3,5 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB GDDR5, OSX EL Capitan 10.11.6

Logfiles will be sent as soon as I tried some of the Wine performance test page

EDIT: Nothing worked for me and send a bug report, but can't seem to get the logs uploaded there...

I have a work around: hit ESC twice. This problem doesn't happen all the time for me when switching between windows, but when it does, hitting ESC twice fixed the problem. Bit annoying if you're in the middle of a fight. Hope it gets fixed soon.

In the last 24 hours, I've had two mysterious wine crashes right when I am docking into an NPC station. First, a Windows window pops up outside of the EVE window and says that the program is in a bad state and is shutting the app down and then the app shuts down. Haven't been quick enough to get a screen grab. Anyone else seen it?

Might be the same error I had a month back or so. If CCP Snorlax is still using that google folder I shared with him. It is file 006

A new version of the crash this time. I was in Urlen at the Perimeter gate and just started warping to the Kisogo gate and it crashed on warp out.

Please check google folder I have shared with you. File 044. I just lost like all audio for eve as well as discord chat and more. Unplugging and plugging some USB cables rebooted some audio but no voice for discord. Also my neocom went crazy, lost access to top three or four items. Chat, character and E

I'm using Macbook Pro. I found that the maximum resolution I can reach is 1440x851 under window mode. The full screen mode works fine but I cant play multi-characters under fullscreen. The icons in window mode are extremely big because of the resolution. It works fine using cider. Hope you can solve this problem.

This continues one of the biggest issues for a few of us.

The variable that could be at play is the resolution settings in the OS under System Preferences. I have it at default which on a 15" retina is 1440x900 "pixel doubled". Probably this is what wine does capture as my resolution instead of 2880x1800 it should look at.

So as Wine is not recognizing the underlying resolution correctly in windowed mode and shrinks game down while MacOS magnifies it up again for retina. Tried playing around with DPI settings in the cfg files ("LogPixels" setting), but had no impact.

Hope we can solve this. I miss playing multiple clients at 2560x1440 windowed.

I think there is a way to control this behavior in Wine, via the registry. I don't remember the details right now - I'll investigate and see if I can introduce a setting in the launcher for this.

I'm curious CCP Snorlax, how many mac users play eve?

My factless guesstimate would be less than 5%?

MacPro (mid 2012) dual 6-core Xeon 3.06ghz, 64GB ECC Ram, PCIe-SSD, 2x SSHD, BD, SD, Nvidia Titan Xp. Running macOS Sierra 10.12.4.

I think your estimate is far off. Please remember that while Mac is the officially supported platform, there is a fair share of people using exactly the same thing to play Eve under other flavours of Unix systems (like me - happily running Eve under WIne under Linux Mint 17).

For issues with the crashing game on any user action (that is what i had)

Try the following:

In launcher go to settings,
check 'use the dev versions'

and select the only version that is not marked 'ccp-daily'.

For me it was wine 1.9.1.XXXXX

It fixed those issues for me.

Any results for running EVE/Wine on OSX Sierra? Hesitant to install Sierra, as EVE is not giving me any problems right now.. :D

I have been running Sierra since day one or two and haven't had any major issues.
