Salvage corp? Collecting players unwanted stuff & processing.

Hi

I'm new and thinking of starting a corp that collects all the unwanted things pilots have in their stations and processing, then selling the minerals.

Is there a market for this kind of corp.

Any advice on how I would do this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

You could use an alt to scan out ships in well known mission runner systems, dodixie for example, then wait for them to finish, bookmark it, warp in a Noctis or any salvager ship, hurricane is a good one until you can use Noctis, then salvage away.

In the good old days before the AI was changed on the NPC's you could just salvage anyway. Ninja salvaging is fun.

Remember, salvaging other people's wrecks is fine and you don't get aggro for it. Looting is another matter........ (though can be fun to loot bait too!)

Typically, people do this by posting 1 isk buy orders on the market, region wide, for a number of regions, and reprocessing and selling whatever collects. For ore, they post buy orders priced so they can still make a profit after they reprocess the ore and sell the minerals.

Very few things are truly worthless; most things can be reprocessed to minerals, and people know this. However, you CAN make a profit for the "convenience" of buying their stuff and reprocessing / moving it, so they don't have to do it themselves.

Typically you want to set up shop in the outlying regions that may not have a market hub. Or in lowsec, or even null. You want to have high Trade skills so you can set up many buy orders. You want to buy loot items, like the various named guns and modules that may drop in missions or exploration sites. And you want to price your orders to be below the reprocess value of the minerals, but not as low as 1 isk (if you price at 1 isk people will just reprocess the loot themselves).

You can also set up buy orders for minerals, cheaper than in Jita of course, so you can make profit from those who reprocess the loot themselves but don't want to bother transporting the resulting minerals to Jita or other major trade hubs.

Keep in mind that people already do this, so you'll have competition.

If you find a system populated by a big mining corps you could work a deal out with them to just salvage the pirate wrecks. its not uncommon in .6 and lower to come across belts that are littered with wrecks because the miners just don't bother with salvage.

Instead of starting your own corp (which you should not do as a new player) you could join one of the existing salvage corps who have been doing exactly as you described for a long time. Pretty good isk for a new player. Or you could go be a freelance salvager.

Most of the loot drops are cht anyway and mostly junk, yeah there's sometimes some really rare drops but going around and stealing stuff the way you make it sound like you just enjoy annoying others.

Really I don't see the point of that because if it make you happy to be a fly in the game then you probably need to take a break.

But anyway, you can do all this without being a fly, get a cloaky ship fly to combat spawns and bookmark existing combat spawns in the system, (a Astero is ideal), warp too...30KM see whats going on, if combat is over and wrecks are just left behind feel free to salvage, looting is probably ok but keep in mind as you say you leave yourself open to attack.

How to profit; build rigs, sell salvage, I have several millions worth of salvage and several millions in rigs all because I am salvaging bloodraiders wreaks that others are busily running to get the prizes, I have almost NO competition and nobody really cares, just wait for the spawn icon disappear so that they don't feel threatened that your there to steal their prizes, in the second room landing cloaky, if they are salvaging (99% of the time their gone), then just leave, nobody's feelings get hurt, I know people love annoying others because they are trying to play "like their hardcore" and not afraid to challenge others but it's typical chimp behavior (not a joke), seriously chimps are always trying to intimidate each other which when I see "humanzees" doing this it amuses me that they have to act out and don't even realize what they look too others or do and they don't care about being a tree swinger, which if this is what they have accepted for themselves says something about them which In that case, I take pity on them and I blue the loot because they can't help themselves, sounds elitist to post that but it's totally not, I am not meaning it in that way.

Selling the minerals is cool but you would want to invest in skills for reprocessing and find a Citadel or station with good reprocessing and build rep with the NPC Corp to lower you cost to zero for reprocessing, it's the only way to squeeze out a few ISK, then move on to buy orders (trading), so you buy stuff from players selling loot at below what you get out of reprocessing for minerals this way it's like that "penny doubling" thing, eventually it will grow.

There's already a corp that is doing this and according to evewho.com, one of the largest independent corps in Eve:

Thanks for the sensible backup bumble. Having someone with your reputation and fabulous moustache makes me feel all warm and happy!

I'm not a fly as the other post said, ninja salvaging was fun! I had many a good time years ago ninja salvaging. It wasn't, despite protests, terribly profitable, but it WAS fun. Sure, it didn't always go to plan. Jumping in to someone doing "recon 3 of 3" for example never ended well if you were in a buzzard lol

there is one corp that does what you say, but they charge high fees, last time i looked it was something 60-70% of the take was theirs for salvaging, so a lower price would be nice/used.

they have mission runners bm the sites and contract it to the corp, then sell and do the split

Pro Synergy does something like what you say, but the split is 45/45/10 between the missioner, the salvager, and the poor wretch doing all the accounting.

As a missioner, I consider it a decent deal since I usually salvage with a dedicated salvager rather than spending time on-field with a marauder (I fly a CNR at this point, I haven't levelled up my Raven to Golem yet). Contracting out my salvage saves me the time to fly out to the site in a Noctis. So basically while I'm busy trying to run sites as fast as possible, someone else is salvaging my stuff for cents on the dollar.

I love it! Just wish I had more time for actually playing the game :D
