Replayability Question

We know that Eve is more simple the second, third or more times through it. Mistakes arent made that were made initially and the scaling of skilling, isk, etc are much more efficient as one goes on.

But....

What if we, as humans in the real world, could reenter the matrix of the Eve world anew each time? What if we could, after character creation and placement with all the starting skills, wipe our minds but only of Eve?

This would mean you could place yourself into the best or worst positions in Eve again and again but with the added twist that it WOULD be completely new for you.

What paths would you take if you could do this? Would you do the same path and truly min/max it and then afterwards tabulate the variances? Would you try different things? Would you purposefully make yourself the worst off you could to give yourself a challenge (this would have worked much better with the old attributes from bloodlines)? Would you simply play "god" and make yourself uber leet in every facet? Would you supply yourself with personal "cheats" so that you could benefit? Or even personal failsafes?

Heh enjoy the thought idea of my day in relation to this lovely game.Big smile

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

I would have never trained ANYTHING in regards to mining.

Mining sucks.

Mining doesnt completely suck. Only the part about the mining really. Everything else is pretty much somewhat partially tolerable when drunk or mid self-lobotomy with a slightly sharpened plastic spork.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

I would rather have Rosie O'Donnell sit on my face after taking a box of Ex-Lax than have to mine.

I started with mining, and would probably wouldnt go much further than a Venture or barge with t1 strips as a new player.

I would much rather focus on combat skills, doing security missions and then moving to null-sec/a wormhole to rat. The isk is easier to come by as a new player - simply join a corp that does that kind of stuff. Besides, if you CHOOSE to keep mining, the ores are better in those types of systems.

Exploration is another thing that a new player can invest a bit of skillpoints, and get a TON of reward for. Much more inconsistent than ratting and missions though.

Plus when you do decide to do PVP, you'll have some combat-related and support skills up and ready.

So what I got from that statement is that you have a fetish about having an angry lesbian poop on your head.

I've done a lot of things in EvE. It has high replayability. Am in agreement that mining sucks and have no desire to try it. Still... plenty of other things to do. Fly casual and there's a ton to do. Get too serious and it narrows your options but there's still plenty to do.

It isn't considered a fetish when the second option is much worse. That is how I feel about mining.

But you know, whatever floats my boat... Shocked

Far as I am concerned, mining is basically fishing. Something to do to unwind, not exactly something I want to do full time every day all day.

Bring friends. And alcohol. Lots of alcohol.

A Minmatar warship is like a rusting Beetle with 500 horsepower Cardillac engines in the rear, armour plating bolted to chassis and a M2 Browning stuck on top.

I've trained the exhumer on an alt exclusively to get access to the Battle Skiff. It's awesome.

LOL the point of this wasnt what you wouldnt do or what you would do in the strictest sense of the idea. But if you could reroll without knowing what you know but still having set it up as such with foreknowledge would you do it the same?

Kind of like life... if you had known what you do now, irregardless the age, would you do it the same? Then put THAT into the Eve context.

But thanx for the laughs as I run 9 miners around and drink beer, eat steaks and fries and watch Fight Club for the umpteenth time.Twisted

This was the point of the last parts. What would you want to forget, so you can have fun doing it again because it was fun the first time, what would you avoid because no matter how many times you tried it it wouldnt be fun? Stuff like that. Dont limit yourself to simple skill paths you would or wouldnt try. What would you want to suddenly "know" that might save your butt or get you that swanky killmail? aka cheat codes Blink

Most people at first would want to know everything still. To be an adult in a childs world. But after a while would you want to challenge yourself? Some wouldnt, 'winning isnt everything its the only thing,' others would want the game on hard mode. What would you do to make it hard mode? Stop yourself from knowing certain things?

Skies the limit, only thing stopping you is yourself.

Have you heard anything I've said?

When I made Gadget it was in preparation for the about-to-be-released Industry makeover a few years back. However what makes her different from other toons that I've made is a restriction that I voluntarily placed on her:

Gadget can only use what she creates herself, obtains with LP, or finds while ratting.

So far I've only broken that restriction twice. Once was to give her an MTU three days after she was created, and the second was to give her an old Procurer after an alt upgraded to a Skiff.

Now, Gadget can pretty much make more things than she can fly, and because of her restrictions, she became a bit of a module pack-rat. The restriction is still there, though has less meaning other than it made replaying the game interesting.
