IGB gone. In game map is junk. DOTLAN FTW

It would have been nice if CCP integrated DOTLAN into the game before dropping the In Game Browser.

The in game map is, and has always been pure garbage, hard to read. Basically it's what you would get if you asked the ladies from "The View" to build a house. Full of sparkly distracting crap and hardly serviceable.

DOTLAN was awesome. It didn't look like a drag queens closet, was highly functional, and was better in every way.

Radar tracking, Set destination, well laid out....

DOTLAN through the In Game Browser was like having Waze in your ship, while the in game map is like 1990s style where you had to lean over, open the glove box, unfold some huge map, scratch your head and have a fight with your wife before even getting the car started.

All I want is DOTLAN through that thing. Or a map that isn't so full of fluff where it's easy to use, and gives you a nice layout

Come on, enough with the hyperbole; the in-game map isn't pure garbage, it's more like a dented rusty car, it can still get you there.

Yeah, dotlan is awesome, but dotlan exists, so why exactly would CCP put in the effort to create a crappier version of it, when the awesome original dotlan is still available. I mean, they got rid of the encyclopedia and re-directed us to eve-uni wiki and other player wikis, so they seem to be going in the opposite direction from what you want. So, I guess, good luck.

I'm all for more functional options on the in-game map, but the IGB needed to go. It was barely serviceable and if I ever needed an info-sec professional to seize up for about 30 seconds all I needed to do was show them that thing.

I find the map easy to use. It could use some tweaks but it's not hard to figure out

CCPs focus must be spaceships first

All that supporting junk can be someone else's focus via the API and wizardry

When CCP have local hosting 20,000 players (see top couple of alliances on dotlan), then they can let loose on the supporting bits.

Still a way to go basically (and the math doesn't support their chances of success any time soon without some evolutionary tech).

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

I tried using the in-game beta map for the first time in ages a few days ago.

Holy **** that thing is beyond unusable if you're used to Dotlan or Garpa. I hate to put down all the effort put in to the new map but damn.

It's functional. I wouldn't go so far as to call it easy.

That said it is still a useful tool for some things.

F10 does wonders man. PROTIP that's what Dotlan is based on.

Oh a slightly related note, I have a question.

I really liked that I could manage my waypoints directly from DOTLAN in the IGB, but I find that I can't do so by using the site from my regular browser.

Is there an option to turn on or maybe a registration that I can do to gain that ability back?

Thanks,
