WARNING!! - Recruitment Scam

I was looking for a new corp (and I still am thanks to these three jokers!) I was approached by a member of Goonwaffe and asked if I would like to join their corp, after submitting an application through their website into which it DEMANDED a full API key (First alarm bell) I was then interviewed and asked for a security deposit of 400 mil isk (Second Alarm bell) - which I paid. I was then approached by this guys 'supervisor' and re-interviewed as 400 mil was the 'mates rates' for joining and he demanded a further billion isk (Alarm bells and sirens are going off at this point) but I thought "I get it back in 30 days.... dont I?" so paid it. At this point a third person gets involved "Head of Internal Affairs" for Goonwaffe and I am interviewed for a third time and guess what he re-calculates my security deposit to be 60% of what I own.... at this point I turn round and say no (I know I should have done this sooner but rose tinted spectacles were blinding me) and unsurprisingly I was unable to recover any of the isk paid already.

Morale of the story: Do NOT follow any recruitment practises outside of the games mechanics, any corps that ask you to do so are NOT worth joining. They are lying cheating scamming ne'er do wells!

The Goons has scammed for years and years with their recruitment... Ugh

Many threads on the subject. But as always go with ones gut feeling and if it's too good to be true then it usually is - as such do some research, a simple search on the forum would probably reveal their intentions.

It is quite a well known scam. Sorry to hear you lost the isk, but hopefully its a very important lesson to you.

Post pilot names or it didn't happen. BTW - helluva lot of money for a new player....

Care to name some names? I'm one of the recruitment officers for Bat Country in Goonswarm, and we don't tolerate this kind of behavior from our members.

This is why I said names or it didn't happen. Any respectable org would want to get to the bottom of this.

That said... this isn't that nut that's been trying to get into Goon's in the worst possible way is it? Kind of trying to back into the situation?

You pulled out of a recruitment process they had invested time in, and wondered why you lost the money?

FYI if you had paid the deposit, you would have gotten it back. AND you would have a corp.

You can't blame them for YOUR choice to break the recruitment procedure.

Goons are good people; their leader is the Chairman of the player council and often acts as a reliable 3rd party in large ship transfers.

Goons are honorable space warriors. They would never do such a thing! Shocked

Take it as a lesson. Maybe it will save you from a scam in real life, with real moneys involved.
So you should actually send some iskies towards those three goon heroes as a reward, for teaching you not to trust anyone on internets. Roll

Sorry but you desrved it, you wanted to join the Goons. Anyone who gets sucked in by their mindless propoganda deserves what they get regardless of any dishonest recruitment practices.

Mind it could have been worse by some other sob stories I've heard about null sec sov recruitment.
