With CCP Fozzie's famous statement that CCP like to pair nerfs and buffs to ganking, based on recent and coming changes, it's due a buff fairly soon.

Yes because the 9+ billion destroyed just by CODE ganking this morning is not enough, let alone the rest of the ganks and its only 7:50am Lol

Its a joke.

CODE.'s success is inversely proportional to the IQ of their targets.

If only stupid people stopped flying expensive ships.

And a absurdly broken mechanic.

The CSM gets in the way of CCP communicating properly with the players of this game.

After all we are not just players, we are customers.

Time for the CSM to be disbanded.

OK, we hear you. Now please do one of two things. Either give it a rest or put forward some suggestions as to how CCP could fix what you see as a problem.

Personally I have no objection to people going to the dark side and indulging in suicide ganking, if they want to lose thier security status so be it. When I have valuable cargo to transport I take precautions and use the right ship to suit the threats. Why don't more people work that out?

Don't get me wrong, I personally think ganking is good for business, just not this much and this easy.

Take alarm system sales, someone in a nice neighborhood gets broken into and robbed and sales go up but if most people get robbed, sales flat line because no one wants to live there.

Same for Freighter sales, hulk sales etc.., a few ganks and sales go up. Too many ganks and people either pilot smaller haulers, cheaper ships or give up on the game entirely because all the risk is on their side.

The point, and issue, is that a Catalyst does a sick amount of dps which it just shouldn't do. Some of the Dessies are balanced just fine, some are terribly imbalanced and the Cat is one of them.

The flaw in your argument is said high damage cat is very easy to pop. They fit zero tank to get that damage.

that's just one of the many, many flaws in his 'argument'.

How so?

Is it the cost differential that bothers you?

It certainly looks like that, but please remember Cats use neutron blasters as main weapons. Blasters all have high DPS, but can only hit things literally in front of them. They have extremely ****** range. So if you fit all destroyers to max damage fits, the Cat will still do more -but only because it has the shittiest range of all destroyers.

It's just that when suicide ganking a target in HighSec, well freighters and mining ships aren't really known to move very fast, so the cats can easily apply all their damage.

Still, sometimes a ganker messes up and goes down in flames without anything to show for it, because short-range blasters aren't a very forgiving weapon.

The reason people prefer a blaster Cat over let's say a pulse laser Coercer is just that when range and tracking aren't an issue because you are shooting at a fat Retriever, the Cat wins.

... After all the mechanic is clearly broken, I am not the one leaping to the defence of something so ridiculously stupid. A miner spends months saving to buy a hulk, you definitively cannot say the same for gankers in their 9.09 mill ships.

  • They spent months training for that specific skillset in order to be able to gank effectively.
  • They spent more months in EFT learning what ships they could actually successfully suicide gank.
  • They spent even more months trying to evolve their practice every single time they got hit by the nerf bat.

Meanwhile, the theme park crowd just sits there AFK in their mining barges, lamenting on the forums over how easy they think it is to shoot other peoples spaceships.

There's nothing broken about these mechanics.
You shouldn't be able to AFK strip mine entire asteroid belts without a care in the world.
Not even in high sec.

a) show me another non-tanked dessy that gets near that dps
b) it doesn't imply that its dps is thus balanced, because it's not

The Catalyst is bullshit.
