Hi all

With the up coming f2p about to hit us, what direction do people feel it should take with regards to content for f2p and sub and PLEXers? In the following when I say 'pay' I mean with any current method including buying plex for isk.)

For CCP to make money from ftp how do people see this progressing. Will it still be a skill limit for ftp or will there be area limits, no null or low for f2p only, no null for past p2p that sort of thing?

The one thing in an MMO that I have always liked is grinding cash shop content (CS). Even though I consider them robbing bastards I like Turbine's ability in their ex p2p now f2p games Dungeon and Dragons Online (DDO) and Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO) to earn cash shop money (tp) in game. It means nothing is beyond a few dozen years of play.

Eve currently has this with the PLEX system and being able to buy PLEX for ISK, what do people think of an in game cap on PLEX that maybe doesn't go beyond 2 bil isk? It will give f2p people something to aim for but puts a big brother slant on the market. Will people want a way to grind aurum?

Then what do you get for paying? Access to all areas in the game for your time, then what? Limited to the same as someone who has never payed. In most games paying then going f2p is called premium, you normally get extra character slots, inventory that sort of thing, what do people think CCP will give for that? I know some people here have never played an f2p before and won't realise how big a deal that is. It really is massive. Maybe going from cuiser to bc that sort of thing?

Will CCP be following the current trend in games of offering a CS item for each month of paying? The gnosis is a sort of example but done in the worst possible way - Pay for 2 months and we'll give you a ship you can only fly if you pay!!

Also what sort of things do people think will appear in the New Eden Store CS.

I have seen many games go from p2p to f2p and its always funny item wise. You get the CEO stating that they will never do 'x' and within 6 months they are not only doing x but you can get it in blue and pink and it comes with its own mini pet.

Cosmetics (afro hair sells massively in some games), sjhip skins, mini pets ('Hey, like my mini Gnosis following me?'), pre made toons with x amount of sp's, titans for cash, all these are to come so if you have a favourite lets hear it.

If you've never met them before them you are about to meet the gold spammers, if you think Jita chat is bad you are about to get it in every system there is a station. !.w1ll_sc@m>y0u.c()m they will clone your hard drive, they will rob you blind.

There are hundreds of thousands of old EVE accounts out there with isk on, watch the wanted adds for 'good cash paid for old EVE accounts with isk' lol.

What will happen to EVE support? Will it move to p2p only, first six months of premium? I'd love to see 50000 new people come in on the first day plus 100000 returning but how many people understand there are virtually no scamming rules in this game or they can't give you your password for an account name you can't remember on an email address you deleted?

Another rambling post sorry all, got my meds just about sorted but the focus still isn't here. I can see some question marks so there must be some questions in there.

lets not mess with a player driven economy by introducing caps on items, you should maybe read the dev blogs regarding the clones as it appears you havent

For now EVE will only have skill limited trail accounts with no time limit. Typical Free-to-Play games sell content in small chunks, mostly for micor payments. As far as I know you won't be able to buy "T2" skill unlock or "battlecruiser unlock". Nor can you grind for specific contend. You can either stay very limited, grind for PLEX or get a sub. I don't think alphas will have a big impact on EVE's economy. They can neither use or produce the good stuff and who cares for T1 margins anyway? Only thing I see is that meta stuff may become far more valuable because alphas can use it. But if they find a way to grind it somewhere (they can do missions..) even that may not happen.

I should of put: lets speculate, by the time I got to the end I couldn't remember the reason for posting.

Sorry guys but it was meant to be a lot of banter with some fun about the future, I blame the tablets, metrazapine down is countering the setrapaline up but the pain killers are killing me lol.

Now, what would you like to see or not see when f2p happens, both as a payer, premium or f2p?

p.s. I'm not going to read the official posts sorry as I have gone through p2p to f2p a lot of time and x will always appear and there will always be a pink option.

A good point but I have been in games that I try, won't work and then you can't get on the forum to get help, support won't help f2p so you give up.

Part of the reason for this post (might be making this part up), lets iron out problems b4 they start, anyone have an idea to sort this?

Mabye f2p could be allowed in a support forum only?

I know others have posted on this but only been back in the game a month and my internet was off for 9 days of that and been out of it on new meds for the rest, at least I'll read these.

EVE should take whatever direction the playerbase takes it.

capping Plex at any price is going to backfire, because people already closely watch the cash value of PLEX vs. skill extractors vs. other cash items to decide which item they spend cash on to turn into isk. You would need to cap every single cash item's isk value, which is much, much more big brothery than players would be comfortable with.

Also, at least on the forums, the general attitude is that people should only grind if they want to, not have to. Every single forum thread I have read where someone complains about how hard it is to grind for Plex at 1b+ isk has been correctly met with a wave of HTFU and variations of "pay cash and do what you want to do".

You can also look at the much more favorable reception Purity of the Throne got vs. Shadow of the Serpent. Purity gave desired items in drops at any given site. No grinding unless you wanted to. Shadow hid the desired items behind a grind wall, with no second option to get to those items unless you grind the site or grind stealing someone else's site.

Finally, CCP doesn't provide content, they provide tools for us to create content with.

If enough people start to play eve I could see plex prices going much higher then 2 billion as alpha clones get switched to omega clones, but one thing that will help CCP keep subs is if alpha clones are useful to say my existing account and I'm able to use my alpha at the same time, oh I have some plans for it.

I wouldnt argue against a unique alpha account subforum area that mimicks regular forums in a few subheading areas: No GD, No C&P. All the rest of the gameplay Centers and either unique language support or all in one language support area as well as access to the regular Technology and Research Center. No buy and sell, no trade, only character bazaar and only after 30 days in game, I might even limit that further to one or two open threads only to reduce spam and cannot START a thread only bid on a character. And then no CAOD and no CSM stuff. That should all be the relegation of paid accounts to even get into the political arena.... these ARE underprivileged peoples after all. And CAOD can be repasted/linked to corporate or alliance forums sections or evemail.

Some of us only come here now and then to the forums, if I'm playing then I am a non stop multi-box miner, I don't get the time to visit the forums as non botting multi-boxing is hard work, which is why I came to EVE in the first place. Never been able to do 2 accounts in my type of game, which is RPG, but I love everything in running as much as I can with all the stuff that goes in a solo mining corp, or at my best 4 corps and all the refining, shipping and whatever that goes with it. That for me is what EVE was about, I tried pvp I tried nul,l not my thing in this game, other games hold more interest for me in those areas.

I tried to put up a post, maybe it was done before, maybe the devs typed what was on their board that day but. whatever. Going through my old notes today I have found that I have pre beta tested 96 mmo's, 197 cb's, 47 open beta's and I have no Idea how many mmo's I've played apart from them.

I was trying (ok badly) to get some chat going about this game going from p2p to f2p, maybe there was a thread, who cares? It is a major part of this game and therefore a lot of peoples lives, not everyone goes through the old posts, a new chat might of helped.

Unfortunately maybe because it was so badly put all I got was look here, this was said there, who wants to read through 96 old pages of crapp, this is general discussion, not a technical thread, a dev posting look here as the first thing will kill anything, cheers.

I have now done 19 games that I was in fully at p2p (9 from cb) that went to f2p, 6 survived. It is not a nice world, any wild, odd, or even weird suggestion might help, stick in someone's mind, start an idea.

anyway, Choo Mi will still be selling in Jita but I have had a bad day on here and she is shutting off on this forum.
