How's the pollution trail of green gasses in the sky around ICeland?

You're in Horde. Surely you've been following all the CO2/TEST v Panfam propaganda on reddit and saw the thread there about Reykjavik turning off the city lights to get residents a better view.

Here is the article linked in the reddit thread and it contains a link to more pictures:

http://icelandmonitor.mbl.is/news/nature_and_travel/2016/09/28/reykjavik_to_switch_off_street_lights_for_northern_/

Also: OOPE is a bit further down.

Saw that story on BBC news. That's about the coolest and smartest thing I've seen for many a day. Reykjavik city council turned off the street lights, and asked people to turn off their homes' lights, so people could go out and see the aurora borealis. And the people did it. Pretty damn awesome.

Taking a wild guess I would think that the Northern Light display is enhanced by the pollution from all the arriving/departing CCP starships. Just thinking...

What is even more humbling in my opinion is just what is happening on a grander scale. Earth and it's systems are a truly amazing thing.

Edit: This thread probably belongs in the Out of Pod Experience forum.

Thought I'd drop by to share some pictures. These were taken facing west from my balcony.

From Tuesday night:

From Wednesday night:

Finally, this is a real-time video of the aurora's motion from Wednesday (about a 45 degree field of view). Hang in there until about 1 minute in, when it gets particularly bright and active.

Scares the hell out of me to think for a moment what would happen without our magnetic field...I think they've shown partially in the Core movie for those interested.

Pollution trail? You mean ionisation of charged particles in the magnetosphere, due to solar winds right???
