I started playing the game about a month ago, and although my group and I started as Caldari, I've found myself gravitating toward Amarr ship design. As of late, I have found myself wanting to receive the Impairor instead of the Ibis when the insurance company provides me with the complimentary ship, but have found no way to negotiate with the insurance company.

Im sure that myself as well as other capsuleers would gladly part with a PLEX to change our rookie respawn ship.

To be clear, I'm not suggesting a paid race change service as that comes with the issues of starting skills, standing etc. I am suggesting a service that offers a one time change of the rookie ship you receive when you are podded or dock up shipless.

I know the OP isn't asking for paid race changes, but I think the idea of paid race changes is a good idea considering the coming alpha /omega clone implementation. until the announcement of F2P your starting race didn't matter besides as a cosmetic/fluff choice, but now since alpha clone status restricts a character to their starting race's ships and weapons it suddenly does matter.

Or save yourself the PLEX and just make it so you change it in the insurance office for a small ISK Fee.
Some people will use it, others won't, and CCP gets another small ISK sink
