Hey, I played a game called Endless Sky. Its singleplayer (and free open source), but it has an amazing trade system where you can buy and sell commodities at any station. They are different prices at different stations, so you can make tons of money if you find a good trade route and exploit it.

I know eve has trading already, but not in the way I described. I'd like to see a new market window, where you can buy different types of commodities (plastics, food products, clothing, etc) which have no use to the player other than to sell at other stations and attempt to make a profit. This could open up an entirely new play-style, where players get the largest cargo hull possible and trade between stations, no player contracts required. Maybe lowsec could have higher prices than highsec, encouraging players to go into more dangerous zones to sell their goods. At the same time, these new players would make excellent targets of pirates, and areas where things sell the most will become heavy pirate territory. So corporations will evolve to form massive merchant fleets that trade between star-systems, with several military ships for defensive purposes.

We already have that if I recall correctly. Look under trade goods.

I'm going to build a big wall that will keep the Gallente out, and they're going to pay for it!

I see. Wire in a cash cow to gin up that much needed ISK PVP seems to just DRAIN out of the wallet. No need to mission. No need to mine/manufacture/market. Just collect up an ever growing pile of seeded items .. like plastics or, Fedo furs ... and in a matter of an hour or so, PRESTO! You've got that billion you've always known was
out there waiting for you!

Now you know what "Uhhhhhhh.....No" means.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

Well prices would be balanced of course, so you can't make a million in one trip unless you have a really big ship and you go a long distance.

Trading to get higher prices is doable if you know how and where to seed things, obviously move away from hubs, there are many systems that are under stocked with basic stuff, ammo, drones, even shuttles, mining stuff, etc.

If you seed in the region that Jita is in and your definitely over 5 to 10 jumps from Jita they can see their prices so price accordingly to be competitive yet higher to make a few more ISK cause most don't want to make lots of jumps, some need the item quickly, while others cannot step foot into Jita because of the camps.

Anyway, you can in general price your stuff about 15 to 20 % higher and it will sell because of those reasons I put.

EVE is more about a player drive economy. TBH you can do what mention in the OP with all the player made goods. There is a lot of isk to be made there without having the sort of "economy" that Elite type space games have (not putting down the original Elite, it was amazing for it's time).

As Dark Lord Trump says, you already have a trade goods economy that is a relic from the first days of EVE if you feel like hauling Soil around rather than something that would make you a crapton of isk.

Back in good old days before planet mining. There was such a solo npc trade system i made my first billion hauling on routes like that.

Today is much better you have the same option but on a player driven platform., you Can manipulat the prices or Take advance of the lazy quick selling persons out there

Eve still has the remnants of an NPC trading system like the one you describe. Look under trade goods/industrial goods in the market and you'll see some stuff you can buy from sell orders, haul a few jumps and sell to buy orders at a profit. Examples include Data Sheets and Electronic Parts. There used to be a lot more and NPC convoys that moved the stuff around. The gameplay is not used by many (if any) players - you can make orders of magnitude more ISK trading on player markets.

CCP appears to be repurposing the trade goods for specialized components used in manufacturing
