Earlier today I found a data site that exploded and destroyed my ship a few seconds after I hacked into the first can. The loot was good and I was able to recover it. But the explosion was a nasty surprise. Is there any way for someone to identify which sites are ghost sites and which are normal?

Just look at the name.

(Type) (Pirate Faction) Covert Research Facility = Ghost site.

Improved Guristas Covert Research Facility, etc.
