Explosives

This feature request is to introduce a new commodity into the game called "explosives" or possibly to give a use to industrial explosives.
Every ship type has a m³ of explosives needed to make it go boom once detonated; an additional m³ needed to make sure nothing drops from the wreck.
The explosion caused by explosions will also do splash damage relative to the size of the ship and the amount of explosives onboard.

Possible use for this feature: introduce the concept of fireships into the game (Light a ship on fire and send it into the enemy fleet)
Make ganking less lucrative for gankers as freighters will carry enough explosives onboard to make the cargo not drop.
Just an idea i had for brainstorming (since i am not a wallposter it might need more words from other people to help with the idea.)

Would explosives detonate upon ship destruction due to other factors? Should there be a chance based detonation in this case? Or does it all go by fuse? (How long would the fuse be?)
This could also replace the current self destruct mechanism or enhance it.

I doubt this would work the way you think.

Every gank fleet would bring along 'innocent' ships that don't get involved in the gank. When you explode your freighter and do splash damage to those innocent ships, the freighter pilot now becomes criminal and will have killrights.

That either prevents any good hauling/bling ship flying for the next 30 days and/or just shifts the gathering of nice loot from the freighter gank, to the point where the killright is activated and they kill the ship under complete sanction from CONCORD.

This would actually hurt freighter pilots that use this mechanic.

Solutions: Do not have the effect in Jita;
Have the criminal timers inherited by the explosion be put on the persons active in killing the freighter.
Maybe a popup message "CAPN SHE'S GOING TO BLOW!!!"

where do we draw the line? amarr? dodixi? rens? hek? niarja gates? and now i don't even go so much as suspect for it and get off scott free?

That would be the current citadel scenario. (could also limit it y security status of the system.)
The lack of penalties for the pilot would be in the scenario where unlawful agression causes he ship to blow up.
If the person decides to suicide into a station they would be liable for any damages caused.

This is not only a nightmare to code but also repeatably abusable, it was shot down last time it came up in 2013 as well

Multiple frigates or destroyers doing kamikaze runs on freighters would be FOTM.

these are system limited for performance reasons. If you have ever been on the test server you can see what happens when everyone puts a citadel in the same system and that's with out over 1k players in the system

Ive suggested suicide bomb ships, haulers filled With explosives, freighters filled With explosive, terrorist skills ect ect...... but the forum means its bad idea.... and slightly insulting to victims of real events in the past. (pussies, this aint the real world)
