Does anyone else's computer lock up near citadels

Half the time I go to one my computer freaks out then freezes up, then I must restart it over again.

I play on a toaster and it handles citadels just fine - have you tried to reinstall?

I certainly get my framerates reduced vastly - up to a 70% reduction. They really are horribly optimised.
They also cause a lot of CPU use (for no apparent reason). I had a freeze problem a while ago which turned out to be caused by extreme levels of CPU heat. Check your temps,

This is most likely the cause, I do tend to run more then 1 thing while playing (namely music).

My old crate lags near citadels, yes- zooming out fixes the problem. It's the graphics that are too heavy; everything else runs fine.

sorry to hear that, I got a laptop not even a strong one, and it runs pretty smooth close to those citadels, I was supprised even how fluent the game works close to those big structures, maybe try tweaking your settings and clean the cache maybe

Only thing that gets locked up near Citadels is me. I really must remember to cloak before they see me...Roll

I play with all settings "low" or "disabled" / "none" / "off", except for two texture settings at "medium". No trails, missile effects, nor asteroid environment, nor camera shake / bob. Resource cache enabled.

Allows my non-gaming laptop to run 4 clients.

No but I do have a trick knee that locks up whenever I fart...
