WARNING: (Those players who are vulnerable to motion sickness, please stop reading now and move on to the next post)

So, even after all the hate on the docking animation, I really like it because it shows off the art assets/lighting in the game.

And yet, I think that the same idea would be applied to mission running.

If you have been mission running for any reasonable length of time, you know what to do, what to kill, and how to navigate through encounter rooms. You could almost work with a blank screen and an overview only to finish them.

To spice this up a bit, why not have a RND camera button that would shift camera angles every 3 to 5 seconds, and show off all of this great art you have worked so hard on. A few new angles could be added to the RND mix... this would yield interesting camera positions like:

-flybys .... stationary camera stares at the ominous player ship as it flies overhead toward the hapless group of NPCs
-intensive closeup ....switches to all that beautiful turret animations and particle effects at closest possible viewing range
-target view ...quick view of the target npc getting brutalized by your weapons fire
-chase plane swoop in ... camera swoops in on the player from above or behind zooming slowly in on the action
-quick cockpit ...camera shows the very cool front view from teh driver's seat for a few seconds
-death by montage ... as the target explodes, it it shown blowing up from at least 5 different angles in rapid succession, ending with a peaceful distance view of the remaining particle effects and dull glow of victory
-the parade ... the camera is stationary, looking at the target, while suddenly your ship zooms past followed by nearby drones
-red 5 checking in ... if you are in a group, each member is framed for a second
-death's door ...now the camera switches to the NPC cockpit bearing down on YOU
-missile view ,,,, enough said.
-field general view ... a shot focusing on the npc group from some distance, slowly panning over to the player
-totally RND ... a random camera position, random movement, but focused on a player or npc

-you get the idea.

Fun fact: "Missile view" used to exist to some extent, as in you used to be able to select a missile and then click on the "View" button on the "Selected Object" window to change perspective to the missile. I actually don't remember if ALT+LMB worked, but that might have been another method.

Also, we have no cockpits to speak of, so that wouldn't work the way you're thinking. Personally, I rather like your general idea though. The only issue is that quite a few players are still salty (including me) about CCP jacking with the camera and messing with something that worked fine before just to add gimmicky features meant largely for streamers. Not too mention adding new bugs and issues while removing features that we no longer have.

I'd +1 this normally, but the last time CCP did something like this, it didn't go over very well.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

An idea is that ships should have 5 cameras which you can see from in the "first person" mode, the one that is currently there and 4 for the remaining axises ( excluding the engine area ). So you'd have a highside, lowside, port and starboard camera to view from as well as the navigational camera at the front.

Master of being misunderstood.
