I kinda get the impression that there's some real mutual respect and friendship between our peoples in regards to that. Maybe like the Amarr and Khanids. Are there parallels there?

Nushi Sefira,

I would certainly agree that between the Jin-Mei and the Gallente, indeed all the peoples of the Federation, there is an abiding affection and deep respect. Few civilisations have willingly renamed their home, adopted naming patterns alien to them, and given body and mind so utterly for another people as we have... such is the power and beauty of the Federation, it is larger than us, an ideal, a banner that will wave on for all time.

However the historical facts of the meeting of the Federation (I say Federation here as it was Mannar vessels that discovered Mei-Ha) and the Jin-Mei, and the Amarr and the Khanid I believe do not create a strong parallel.

Firstly the contact between the Amarr and Khanid was initially hostile; before realising that the nomadic Khanid peoples also were enemies of the Udorians and may be diplomatically brought into the Empire to complete the conquest of Ves-Udor the Empire enslaved a portion of the Khanid peoples. Further those Khanid that didn't bow to the Empire were defeated and enslaved as was Imperial policy. This is distinctly different to the first meeting between our peoples, which was marked immediately by the opening of peaceful and diplomatic negotiations.

Secondly the Jin-Mei people were allowed to retain their own leadership within the Federation; after completing the conquest of Cas-Udor an Amarr family was granted Holdership over the Khanid people. Compare this to the fact that the Jin-Mei people were allowed to maintain their own leadership with minimal interruption as our government and people adjusted to the legal requirements placed upon us as signatories to the Federal Charter and Constitution.

While there may be some parallels, and it is not my place to comment on the depth of feeling felt between the Khanid people and the Amarr, it is my opinion that in light of the historical circumstances of first contact and the following years of integration that it is not a strong or meaningful parallel.

Hate is the product of love. Couldn't of put it better myself. In policing, we gotta be careful of our culture and our attitudes... We got a narrative of moral redemption. We got a saying, "Us versus our mutual lack of understanding." And we have to say it to ourselves every time we chase a criminal down. Every time we see a criminal in court. Every time we perform an investigation. Not us against them, because we're all in this together. The police, the community. We're all trying to become better than we were yesterday. In ages past, policing... We didn't know that in policing. We loved our communities and hated criminals even though criminals are members of a community. We hated criminals because we wanted them to be better and we didn't think they could be better. So they never got better. We know now that the only way to help them improve is to love them and fight back the hate and try our best to understand why people break the law. Together.

I do not trust Federal legal system. No, I not just don't trust it, I despise it. Only in the federation they could start hunting down a victim of a racial attack as a criminal. And why? Because they are of different race than gallentean? Because she dared to defend herself against physical assault?

So I won't make a distinction, whom I would be approached by. A fascist in Federal Navy uniform or a racist in Federal Police uniform. Those, who wear any Federal uniform are the enemies. And when I am 'visiting' Federal space I eliminate both police and navy vessels indiscriminately.

You might like the member state I work in. Maybe you could give this little part of the Federation a second chance and check it out with me sometime.

I don't think so. Even if good peoples are serving a monster, they can't be considered good peoples anymore. And I cannot like any member state that serves the Federation.

If you want me to like it, it shall leave the Federation permanently and absolutely. Only then I might consider liking it and giving it a second chance. Because while it is stays as part of the Federation, it is Federation. And Federation doesn't deserve second chance. How many we were giving Federation chances?

Otro Gairushi gave them chance. And what happened to him?
Tibus Heth gave them chance, signing peace treaty. And what Federation did with this treaty?

We stepped on the rake once, and got our forehead hit. Yes, it was stupid to step on them again to be hit one more time. But we aren't idiots to step on them one more time, Nushi Sefira.

The Federation is not to be trusted. And the Federation is not to be given second chances.

And yeah, William, Miss Kim, I'm big on cultural relativity but Roden's fixation on war and the military and his strange moves in those areas scare me. It's just not what the Federation's supposed to be about and I don't think that he really cares about the Federation and the Federal ideals. I think he cares about himself and war and that's it. I think the domestics can go **** themselves in his opinion unless they get in the way of his agenda and then he'll pull his military prowess around and crush the domestics.

Don't like it. Don't like it one bit.

Just Roden?... It is easy to blame just one man. But he isn't one, if he rules whole Federation. There were all those who elected him. Those who give him advises. Those, who follow his orders. The web of evil envelops whole structure, tying those who are guilty with those who are innocent, and throwing them all into meatgrinder. And before Roden.... it was Foiritan. His name is associated with Noir's attack, initiation of Gallente tortures in their hidden prison camps, genocide, aparteid and racial tension on Caldari Prime and of course start of this war. Maybe most 'significant' of these deeds like hidden camps and genocide aren't actually his deeds, but deeds of other man - Blaque, it's him who used to act in shadows with his Black Eagles. But even Blaque... Foiritan gave him this position. It is all bound together. And there is no way to simply untie it: those who are really giulty take seats of authority, and they won't let their power to slip away from their hands. There is no way you can bring them to justice... unless you crush them. Unless you strike and take this power away from them, make all this infrastructure invalidated. Then... they will became simple humans.

And then they can be brought to tribunal and answer for all these crimes.

But until it happens... we have only one option: to fight against gallentean occupants. Because while we waste time on discussion, they keep killing, they keep torturing. And nobody can stop them.

Except us.

If you don't like it, if you want to change something - come to us. We will give you weapon and will teach how to deal with Federation.

I hear this a good bit, It would seem to me considering the failure of the previous administration that he has good reason to look to our collective defence.

Every government has as its first duty the defence of their people.

For the first time since I started the conversation, he looks me dead in the eye. In his gaze are steel jackhammers, quiet vengeance, a hundred thousand orbital bombs frozen in still life.

Except Federal government.

According to their last decisions it looks to me that it is more like their second duty, while their first duty is slaughter of Caldari people.
