HS - local as it is today
LS - local is just the number of pilots in system w/out pilot specific information
NULL - no local. If you own the turf and upgrade it - you can have 15 minute delayed local (numbers only - no names).

Any time a pilot chooses to squawk in local - all his info becomes available.

ps: please do not pay attention about what i say about cloaking feature. this thing should take a separate thread, so lets discuss only local problem..

First post:
- why we can see pilots name in local chat?
- why we can see pilots name on ship?
- local chat list gives a free scouting to everyone:
Nowadays anyone can check pilot's statistics on websites like eve-hunt or zkillboard.
Also local chat unmasks the ammount of ships in solar system.

I suggest to remove the local chat (like in w-space) and make auto directional scan with a function of alerts and swith autoscan off, plus add UNKNOWN tag for cloaked ships on d-scan, also add ability to combat probes to see only a presence of cloaked ships in space, but not location. maybe it can be a 5AU sphere, so people know that somewhere in that area a cloacky ship is hiding.
Also maybe let a pilot to see UNKNOWN (cloaked ships) on d-scan within 15 degrees width. So if a cloaked ship is in grid, than pilot can find him using d-scan. Plus any bombs should decloak ships.
All this can make EVE more juicy and spicy.

Also let pilots deside if they want others to see their name on a ship. But leave ability to see ships attachment to a corporation or alliance.

The ship appears on d-scan under whatever name you've given it. So if you don't want to be obvious on d-scan, change the name.

Other than that, local does need nerfed and we should get a way to detect cloaked ships. However, 15 degrees on d-scan is very narrow.

Local knows you because your pod is logged into the fluid router network spanning the entire gate network.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

I didn't mean hide names on d-scan. I meant hide it from local chat and from mouse hover.
15 degrees is the limit. so i mean you cannot use 5 degrees width to locate ship. 360 to 15.

This whole local thing again.
Local stays, at least in high sec and low sec because reasons.

Reasons.
High sec
Local is the only real intel tool you have.
High sec is supposed to be the safest place in the EvE universe and local is a critical part of that.

Low sec
Again local is a critical intel tool especially for the small roaming groups.

NO to anything that allows you to detect a cloaked ship no matter how small the chances of success or the difficulty in doing it because cloaked is cloaked and that means hidden from view AND from detection.

NO to removing the characters name associated with a ship in space. Removing the characters name associated with a ship in space would make it impossible to find that character you have kill rights on.

no to de-cloak

delayed local in null (same as wh) once structures are added that let you put standard local into a system

if you talk your name should be there
if they can see your ship they should see your name

those last to are to ensure choices you have made will be able to affect you down the line

No to every single idea you proposed here.

Stop crying about local being "free intel" (Are the in game maps also free intel that should be removed?)
Stop crying about D-scan, it works fine and there is no reason to change it
Just **** no to adding cloaked ships to D-Scan/Scan results. That defeats the entire point of a cloaked ship.

This will make Eve dumb as hell.

Yes I would love to see them removed and require some form of structure for you to gain that Intel. Maybe even let corporations rent access to them. You want to see how many ships were lost in Tama the last hour? Well XX Corp can give you access to their monitoring station for 1m a month

One just cannot be in safe zone and see what's happening with local.

My pod works fine in wh space when not logged into the imaginary I need local intel errr... fluid router network. I can swap them in wh citadels and I get the free ride to the med bay when things go wrong.

Your offered argument is obviously not true.

Serious question: Did you just totally make that up?

Local in null makes eve even dumber.

Game maps are records of static things. Even human technology of today can do that, and we haven't made it to mars yet. It's static and hasn't changed in eons so NO the in game maps aren't free intelligence, they are a catalog of the static universe we play in.

HS - local as it is today
LS - local is just the number of pilots in system w/out pilot specific information
