Old Eve Player Thinking of Coming Back

I have taken a few years off of Eve because of a number of reasons, mainly my life getting much more busy. I am thinking of coming back but there seems to be a lot of changes. I started reading through the release notes for the various patches since I left. I was hoping somebody could give me their opinion on what they think the most important changes I should pay attention to since the Crucible patch which was when I stopped playing.

I have been feeling the itch to get back in and start playing again but their seems to be a lot of patches and changes to Eve since I stopped playing, it feels like the pace of releases has increased.

Much better than reading patch notes. Highlights the gimmicks.
Also, welcome back. Has been a long time since Crucible.. Would take quite a post to sum up all that happened since.

When you don't know the difference between there, their, and they're, you come across as being so uneducated that your viewpoint can be safely dismissed. The literate is unlikely to learn much from the illiterate.

The game is in mid-evolution at the moment. Management is working on introducing an entirely new set of player-owned structures among a plethora of attendant changes they're in the process of refining. Some of it is still in the discussion phase, as well, so what EVE winds up being is a slowly unfolding mystery.

I mention this so the changes you do become aware of don't seem random or arbitrary. I find EVE to be as challenging and enigmatic as the first day I logged, so however it all works out I'll still be in pitching. That's enough for me, anyway. That said, if you are back, then welcome back. And, two things that never change: Fly safe. Trust NO one.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

I too am back from a long absence, my opinion is you shouldn't have too much trouble getting in the swing of things, there have been changes but nothing overly complicated, so far I am enjoying it and have a positive outlook on the mechanics of the game.

Jita is still jita, gank campers still camp the station, scammers still scamming, and isk bots still posting in local, overall the community is still the same except (NOTHING AGAINST THEM), I've noticed Russians everywhere, I mean I think half the player base is now Russian o7 comrade captain sir!Big smile

Would I say come back, yeah sure why not, eve still is a very involved game with much too offer, I've been at ED, bought the expansion, now I have shelved the game for now because I am of the opinion it's going in the wrong direction (long boring story).

They've introduced battleships, you can only mount one mwd, and missiles don*t do splash damage any more.

Unfortunately, the game doesn't have the amount of nudity I'd like to see...

The pace of release has matched the standard modern agile practices, which is less more often, which is great. We no longer have patch days that happen 1-2 times a year that last days.

Biggest TL;DR eve isn't battlecruisers online anymore.
Warp speed changes means cruisers and smaller get a lot more use now.

In null atrategic capital power projection got nerfed. I'm not going to get into the sov changes.

I just resubscribed to eve, as I have thrown away the windows trash and eve is one of the few mmorpg's that runs smoothly on Linux (praise Snorlax!). I didn't regret it. A lot has changed and there is a lot to learn again. New Ships, new meta, new skills, ...
Nevertheless I decided to do something new, I haven't done before I stopped 4 years ago. So I joined a dedocated wormhole corp. At the moment I'm having a blast and it feels like experiencing a whole new game.

But... how old are you???

That ringing in your ears you're experiencing right now is the last gasping breathe of a dying inner ear as it got thoroughly PULVERISED by the point roaring over your head at supersonic speeds. - Tippia

I find it rather disturbing that you desire to see me naked good sir.
