In short, I would very much fire the team who came up with this for the following reasons :

1. The "hoards" of new players will never happen. Instead you will battle with hoards of people not going through becoming paying customers because you got several barriers/unsolved issues :

a) RMT cheaper than the lousy 19$/month hard to swallow monthly concrete pill
b) Farmers. People will rather farm isk than paying the much needed cashy cash
c) Learning Curve - Time needed to master areas of the game

At best you will get some curious honest people to pay you for a month or two but that is it. The game does not deliver what it promises and that qualifies as a hoax in the mind of a client. If the client is feeling sad - no cashy cash for you.

CLIENT RETENTION is your biggest and ugliest problem. The game is complicated. Whatever exceeds the difficulty of using an ironing machine is going to get people bored and leave you with your pockets fluttering in the wind.

I ran a test on 10 buddies of mine who spend between 50 and 100 $ a month on games but they do not play eve. Guess what? They absolutely loved the presentation of the game. But they soon realized that the shining graphics are useless when explaining them a PVP movie.

The questions were... "what are those dots? and the bubbles?" Upon realizing that EvE is played like that, the MEH GOD did its magic. Their enthusiasm plummeted.

In spite of this 8 out of 10 decided to continue and give the game a chance. The next roadblock was the paying subscription. In a market dominated by "free to play" games is hard to make a 19$/month case and win in front of someone who is taught that games are to be played for free.

Next thing that I did was mention that you can pay with the ingame currency but starting out and paying your plex from the first month is just not doable for a person who works and has a family. I then had 3 out of 10 left. Shortly I lost another one. During the trial another quit and only one played for one more month after the trial and quit because he got shot down in Jita.

THE MONEY SCHEME is unrealistic

You are trying to force a rigid solution upon an uneven ground. If in the Western EU the avg salary ranges around 2000Eu/month in Eastern EU the avg montly wage is close to 500 Eu/month.

IMPORTANT : People in Eastern EU are much more resourceful in terms of solving/avoiding payments problems, than the Westerners. And you got on your hands the following problem : a handful of smart people avoiding payment because it is not a fair tax for their monthly budget. The phenomenon goes further to the next step where Easterners get in contact with Westerners in-game (inevitable) and they teach them (purposely or indirect by example) NOT to pay for the monthly pill. Add to it a period of 7 to 10 years of slumber and bad decision making from the Marketing Team and voila! Empty pockets again.

(Not implying that Westerners are sheeps who pay because they can, but it is much easier for someone in the West to pay for a game than for someone living in the East)

The Solution should be dropping the pill tax to a competitive number. Just ran a competition analysis. You got the people to do this.

The Not So Free to Play model is a disaster on medium-long term.

GAMECONTENT not even going to start talking about this.

DISCLAIMER : It's not a rant it just my 2 honest cents. I still play EvE since a long time ago and I do pay with cashy cash for my accounts.

When you don't know the difference between there, their, and they're, you come across as being so uneducated that your viewpoint can be safely dismissed. The literate is unlikely to learn much from the illiterate.

Why did you bother to type all that? It's just going to get locked because it's not in the right place. Did you not stop to see all the locked post on the front page of the very forum section you posted in?

So which is it?

Do they spend those 100$ per month on games or do they play them for free? Somehow seems your buddies manage to do both.

I want to learn more about that isk farming. How do you do it? Every isk I make in Eve requires some kind of time and effort, no matter how hard I try to avoid it.

The "Free to Play" system usually takes more than 20 $ from your pocket a month. Study it a little.

so basically you have cheap friends?

If you pay for a year at a time, you get dozens upon dozens of hours of entertainment for $12/mo. I pay $12 to play mini golf for 45 minutes.

Not white knighting. Just a simple fact. An entire research department, finance department, HR department looking at this for over a year and mister know it all here thinks he knows enough about the subject matter to dismiss the entire idea in a forum post. People all over the f*cking place are coming out of the wood works pretending they know what is good and what isn't for CCP as a business and how to fix EVE in just 3 simple steps. It's embarrassing honestly.

The very definition of the word FARMING implies you need to work for the result :

"A farm is an area of land that is devoted primarily to agricultural processes with the primary objective of producing food and other crops; it is the basic facility in food production"

Farming does not mean that you magically obtain isk.

Honestly we should be more worried about f2p entitlement ruining the forum instead of the game. Although the trolling will be fantastic I'd we reach hearthstone levels.
