so i literally just started a new account like a day ago. could i transfer a character to it as soon as I subscribe that trial account or do i have to wait a few days?

Not sure, sorry. The Support article on transfers says there is a FAQ. Have you tried clicking through until you can see that and reading it? I can't find anything particular on the support site though.

Can't be a trial account, must be paid account. It can be brand new however.
